Set amongst lush green gardens in the Blue Mountains, escape to an original mountain cottage.
The time has finally arrived! We can start exploring the beautiful spaces in our state, and at the top of our list? The stunning Blue Mountains.
Between a 2.5-3-hour drive, it’s far enough away to class itself as a ‘getaway’ but close enough to not be a big day of traveling. With stunning cottage, after stunning cottage to choose from, it’s hard to pick where you might set up camp during your stay. Our pick? The original quaint mountain cottage, Casa Piccola.
Owned by Tenille and her young family, Casa Piccola is set in the picturesque town of Leura. Only a short drive (5mins) or a 15-minute walk into the centre of town, Casa Piccola is the perfect homely, warm and cosy spot to base your Blue Mountains adventure from.
In her own words, Tenille shares the style of Casa Piccola.
“It’s such a mix of styles. A little country, rustic and antique all in one. We’ve tried to create a homely feel, having the old relics of the past as a hero in my styling.
“Our stunning weatherboard cottage has had a new lease of life being freshly painted and lovingly styled throughout. We’ve kept its original charm to make your stay a little more memorable.”
The over 100 year old house was in much need of a facelift, but luckily, the property had great bones. Keeping as much of the history of the property as they could, you will notice little nooks around the house that are complete with original pieces; such as the oven in the kitchen, and the old laundry tub now in the yard’s studio.
Pulling up into the lush green front yard, you won’t miss the white weatherboard home sitting amongst the trees. Open the front door into the cosy living space, and you'll discover antique pieces set amongst the cosiest of blankets and pillows, perfect for snuggling into by the fireplace.
“As you walk into the home you’re met with a cosy, sunlit lounge room. Whether you prefer to sit in the sun, next to the wood fire and read your favourite novel or put on a movie from our collection, watch local TV or Netflix, you’ll feel instantly relaxed on our five-seater modular lounge.”
The three-bedroom property is perfect for a young family, or a group of friends looking for a little getaway. Two queen-sized rooms and one single room, each with their own distinct personalities.
Go beyond the kitchen, dining, sitting areas and those beautiful stained glass windows, lie possibly the properties most endearing feature. The well established and whimsical style gardens make for the ideal place to end your day of exploring the scenic Blue Mountain sights, especially with a glass of wine and your favourite book in hand.
Guests can cook up a storm in the newly refurbished kitchen, which includes all the mod cons you could want. Or treat yourself and have a stunning grazing platter delivered to the door from local business; Lavender Hill Events. The spread has all the best you can expect on a grazing platter; fruit, cheese, local goods, and even chocolate!
The name, Casa Piccola, is Italian for small house and when the young family first bought the property, they thought of how this little cottage had homed so many families and their friends over its history.
“This small house was home to so many, and that is what we wanted to create for our potential guests; a place they could instantly feel at home. Also, my husband is Italian - the language has a romantic feel which reflects the personality of our charming mountain cottage.”
The gorgeous mountain cottage begs its guests to turn off from everyday life, and relax into its quiet, misty and peaceful surroundings. So, book yourself a stay at Casa Piccola and warm yourself by the fire at this quaint country cottage, enjoy beautiful walks and the tranquillity of your own private garden; all whilst nestled in the beauty of the Blue Mountains.
