Are you heading to the Hunter Valley for the weekend, and don’t want to leave your pooch behind? Maybe you’re a local who just wants to take your pup out with you for a day among the vines. Whatever your situation, we know that your furry friends love a day out in the Hunter as much as you do.

To help you out, we’ve created this guide to dog-friendly cellar doors in the Hunter Valley. As always, make sure to follow good pet etiquette at cellar doors: keep your dog on a leash and ensure they’re well behaved.

Nestled amongst the vines of Tinonee Vineyard Estate, the 1813 boutique cellar door offers a refined wine tasting experience, making it the perfect outing for you and your furry friend.

Greenway Wines
Set your sights on the big red barn and enjoy a wine tasting with your furry friend at Greenway Wines. The outdoor space under the vines is an ideal spot to spend the afternoon with your dog.

Kawal Rock Distillery
Kawal Rock Distillery produces a delicious range of spirits, spanning from several gins to brandy. Bring your pooch along and sit back, taste the spirits on offer, and enjoy the views over the vineyards and up to the mountains.

Krinklewood Estate
Leashed pups are welcome at the picturesque Krinklewood Estate. They might even meet the resident cellar doggo named Polare, a Maremma sheepdog – just don’t feed her cheese, even if she begs for it!

Margan
A stop at Margan is a must, especially for wine lovers who value sustainability. Bringing your dog? Let the team know in advance so they can have water bowls at the ready.

Talits Estate
Dogs are welcome to roam (well-behaved and wary of local wildlife of course) at Talits Estate. This beautiful French-inspired cellar door will transport you to Europe – be sure to wander around the estate to admire the scenery.

Whispering Brook
Home to vineyard and mountain views, plus an olive grove, Whispering Brook is a picturesque spot in Broke. Relax on the wide covered verandahs with your pup – a lovely way to while away the day.

Winmark Wines

Wander the expansive grounds with your dog, enjoy a tasting outside, and explore the on-site art gallery. For those looking at booking the on-site accommodation, just let them know at the time of booking whether the four-legged friends are joining you.

Lovedale

Allandale Winery
The Lovedale-based winery has two of their own pups on-site, Bugzy who is super social, and Sonny who is a bit timid, so make sure you let the team know when you book if you're planning on bringing your furry friend (on-leash).

Gartelmann Wines
There’s plenty of space for dogs at Gartelmann Wines. Small dogs are ok to come inside, but the larger breeds will need to stay out on the deck with their owners.

Stomp! Wines
Stomp! Wines love welcoming your pups to the cellar door. Whether you book in for a wine tasting or a wine and cheese experience, doggo friends on leads are welcome inside and outside.

Tatler Wines
Located in the heart of Lovedale, Tatler Wines, overlooking the Brokenback Range is a lovely dog-friendly spot for a wine tasting.

Wandin Estate
Wandin Estate is super friendly for dogs – they just ask you to book a spot outside on their sheltered verandah and that your doggos be kept on-leash to help protect their many kangaroo residents!

Mount View

Briar Ridge Vineyard
Briar Ridge Vineyard is the place to be for dog lovers in wine country. Whilst your doggo must be kept on-leash at all times, they can come into the cellar door (including the couches), wine deck, and wine garden. Plus, they’ve got a pooch hydration station, pooch platters with a variety of dog treats available, locally made treats for take home purchase, and even a pet hall of fame where you can see lots of previous visitors.

Carillion Wines at Tallavera Grove
Soak up the French Provincial vibes at Carillion Wines, located at Tallavera Grove in Mount View alongside your on-leash dog.

Savannah Estate
Bring your dog on a lead to Savannah Estate in Mount View to experience the brand's easy-drinking wines. Try the wine and pie tasting, featuring Savannah Estate wines paired with delicious house-made pies.

Ben Ean
On-leash four-legged friends will love joining you at Ben Ean. Whether it’s at the cellar door, patisserie & deli terrace, or even the restaurant terrace – the doggos are welcome!

Blueberry Hill Vineyard
Blueberry Hill Vineyard crafts boutique, uniquely-styled wines from the vines surrounding its cellar door, plus several other vineyards across New South Wales. Dogs are welcome on site at the cellar door as long as they are friendly.

Visit Bonvilla Estate on your dog-friendly day out in the vines. For an experience you won't forget, book in for a picnic in the vineyard, with a ploughman's platter and your dog by your side.

Brokenwood Wines is one of the best known wineries in the Hunter Valley, consistently recognised for its award-winning wines. In the cellar door's outdoor spaces (like The Wood Restaurant's deck space and the Terrace Wine Bar) and weather permitting, dogs are welcome to join you for a tasting when they're on a lead.

Calais Estate
Calais Estate is a boutique, family-owned winery that loves welcoming sociable (and on-leash) dogs to the courtyard section of the cellar door – it’s a lovely spot for a picnic and a wine tasting.

Calling Peppers Creek Village home, Charteris Wines’ cellar door is exceptionally dog friendly with only one stipulation – that the doggos be friendly!

Comyns & Co has to be one of the friendliest cellar doors in the Hunter. It’s both kid-friendly and dog-friendly, meaning you can bring the whole gang along.

De Bortoli Wines
The welcoming cellar door based on Wine Country Drive is extremely dog friendly. Their one stipulation? That owners allow their staff to have a doggy cuddle on entry as their entry fee!

The team at Degen Estate loves hanging out with your furry friends, so feel free to bring them along when you next stop in for a wine tasting. Just make sure they're on a lead!

Bring your dog on a lead to First Creek Wines and either take a seat on the outdoor patio to soak up the fresh Hunter Valley air, wine taste, and hang out with your pooch or enjoy your wine tasting inside.

Glandore Estate Wines
Glandore Estate Wines is a haven for doggos in wine country. With three resident wine dogs on the Glandore team (Nutmeg, Oreo, and Sunny) your pup is bound to enjoy getting to know the team and accompanying you as you taste some outstanding wines. Plus, your doggo can enjoy doggy ice cream from Dogglicious and a special tasting includes doggy wine – Chrapawnay and Pawraz.

You’d be right to assume that Gundog Estate loves welcoming friendly dogs to the cellar door – it’s in the name, after all. At Gundog Estate, your pup can enjoy a Tail Ale (dog-friendly beer) while you taste award-winning wines.

This pet-friendly boutique cellar door is a place where it’s easy to linger long into the afternoon. At Hanging Tree Wines, your dogs are welcome inside and outside and can enjoy plenty of space to run and roam alongside the four resident dogs on-site!

This quaint family-run cellar door on the outskirts of Pokolbin invites you and your pup out to enjoy a wine whilst you bask on the deck on a sunny day!

Hungerford Hill is enthusiastically welcoming of your furry friends to its cellar door – they just ask that all dogs remain on leash at all times. And in their words, ‘dogs are a perfect pairing to wine and good times as far as we are concerned.’

Hunter Wine Lab loves it when guests bring along their friendly fur babies to its Pokolbin cellar door. Your pup will love meeting the resident wine dogs (Teddie and Frankie), the team just ask that you ring ahead to give them the heads up!

Cosy up by the fire or relax in the colourful courtyard at Iron Gate Estate. The Spanish-inspired boutique cellar door welcomes well-behaved on-leash dogs, so you can bring along your pooch to a tasting.

Ivanhoe Wines loves meeting your furry friends at its Pokolbin cellar door. Make sure they're on a leash, then they can join you for a wine tasting – the staff will even have water bowls at the ready. Have a wander around the beautiful property once you're done tasting.
