De Iuliis

Doing things a bit differently

Started by the De Iuliis family in 1990, this vineyard grew grapes and sold them to winemakers for the first ten years of its life. It wasn’t until Mike De Iuliis (son) finished his wine studies in 1999 that this family business changed from grape growing to wine production. And they have never looked back.

Mike has a reputation for doing things differently, and his fresh approach to creating wines that are truly expressive of the Hunter region. They are considered some of the best examples of Chardonnay, Semillon, Verdelho, Rose and Shiraz coming from the region. Mainly for their drinkability and unique yet highly identifiable flavours.

Mike De Iuliis likes do things differently. He’s not bound by tradition. He likes to push the boundaries, introducing new ideas and innovative processes wherever he can. “We’ve dedicated our lives to wine. And we’ll continue to make wines that anyone can enjoy. With or without a dusty wine cellar.”

Situated on Broke Road, Pokolbin this cellar door is known for its friendly, informative staff and premium wines. With floor to ceiling windows and an inviting outdoor deck where you can take in the view over the vineyards, manicured gardens and maybe even spot some of the resident kangaroos. If you’re feeling more adventurous climb the observation tower for breathtaking views.

The Australian Wine Companion by James Halliday has been rated De Iuliis Wines a 5 star winery since 2010.
