The unique Lambton lifestyle boutique is celebrating their 5th birthday with an almighty sale | 15-19 Jun
*Sale has now ended
The local Lambton boutique, Sobelle Living, has become one of Newcastle’s top one-stop-shop for everything ethical, local, and handmade since its inception in 2016.
Celebrating their fifth birthday the only way they know how Sobelle Living is hosting a week-long 20% off storewide sale!
With five being such a big milestone for small business, and of course one mighty sale ahead, we thought it would be the perfect time to sit down and chat with the owner of Sobelle Living, Kim Pigott, to hear all about how the past five years in business has been and what she’s got in store for future of the local retail space.
Can you believe Sobelle Living is turning five?
No, I can’t believe it actually! I’m so excited about our 5th year in business. Thanks to my wonderful staff with their exceptional customer service skills, friendliness, and support, our store is doing better than we ever imagined.
When you first started, did you ever expect to see the business where it is now?
The business has grown steadily in the last five years, and we are very proud of the fact we stock so many amazing local artisans and designers. Newcastle has some incredible talent. All brands in store are Australian, with a major portion being from Newcastle, Hunter Region and Central Coast.
With the year that we had last year, how did Sobelle Living cope during 2020?
Surviving COVID-19 is something we are very grateful for. Being closed for a month was really tough, but we came through it with flying colours. Our customers were amazing and the level of support we received from them was outstanding. We definitely wouldn’t have survived without their loyalty and ongoing support to this day.
Pivoting and changing direction due to customer demand and sourcing the stock we were constantly being asked for, was a turning point post-COVID-19.
Tell me a bit about the products and brands Sobelle Living has brought into the store since we last spoke…
We started off predominantly as a homewares store and now we are known mainly for our huge range of sustainable women’s clothing, shoes, and bags. Our affordable slow fashion labels sit alongside our beautiful eco-friendly gifts, organic skincare, handmade jewellery and much more.
Have you got any big future plans for the business?
Now more than ever, people are shopping locally and also environmentally aware of shopping consciously and the effect it has on our planet and their community. I am very passionate about both of these issues and will continue to create awareness in any way possible through our store. Education is the key to changing people’s habits.
As the local retail store expands, their point of difference has always been and will continue to be a curation of products that are Australian, affordable, unique, ethical, sustainable, eco-friendly, organic, and handmade.
Make the most of Sobelle Living fifth birthday celebrations and their week-long 20% off storewide sale, and head in from 9am Tuesday the 15th of June through to 1pm on Saturday the 19th of June.
