Ali Cooke has launched A La Mode The Label in time for Mother's Day
It had always been a dream of Ali Cooke to run her own coffee shop and gift shop showcasing local labels, and ultimately her very own label. With Ali's much-loved Five Senses Twilight Market put on in during 2020 Ali explained,
"I was missing the opportunity to get creative & working with my local makers and with no events to host for A La Mode Events I had lost all platforms usually used to fundraise for local charities so it seemed as good a time as any to launch a label."
"A La Mode means on-trend & in fashion and is all about spreading kindness but A La Mode also means braised in wine which seemed appropriate."
The A La Mode collection started with the kindness tees printed locally with $2 from each tee donated to Ali's Big Hug Box deliveries to local cancer patients and has since grown to include jewelry, accessories, candles, artworks & more all made in Newcastle by Five Senses/A La Mode stallholders using drawings & fabrics designed by Ali.
"The first collection was 'Over The Rainbow' and were now heading 'Into The Wild'. On top of the $2 per tee I also donate $1 for every $30 spend which goes to gift boxes donated to Calvary Mater & Genesis Care to spread kindness for local patients undergoing treatment.
Some of the local makers Ali collaborates with are Lone Printing, Diana Bower Designs, Desvalido, Pomegranate Sisters, Leo & Star, and Regal Wraps. Ali has also recently started collaborating with Hunter Scrubs who are using Ali's fabrics to make scrubs for medical staff & helping us spread kindness.
A La Mode will be open until Thursday at Charlestown Square, Level 2 between near Myer and Mecca. On Friday 7th & Saturday 8th the label will move down to the balcony with a collective of small businesses for Love Local hosted by A La Mode Events.
Ali will also be doing a big hug box delivery for Mother’s Day so all sales for this week will contribute to that!
