Like most of Australia, Newcastle is a coffee-obsessed city. This means there’s no shortage of quality coffee spots across the city for you to get your daily caffeine fix.
Just last week, we asked you for your favourite coffee spots across Newcastle. Today, we release the 20 most voted for – so, without further ado, here are Newcastle’s favourite coffee spots (as voted by you).

Autumn Rooms
Autumn Rooms has become renowned in Newcastle for its creative cafe food, and for good reason. The coffee is of the same quality as the food, with the cafe serving Single O coffee.

Baba Yaga
The colourful facade and friendly service of Darby Street's Baba Yaga always makes us smile, order a cup of coffee made with Veneziano coffee beans and you’ll be no doubt smiling all day!

Barista Miss
This neighbourhood coffee spot in New Lambton has garnered a strong reputation for great coffee since its inception in 2017. The best part? Their coffee is thanks to local roasters, Dark Coffee Roasters.

Convoy Commune
Convoy Commune nicely matches the beachy, relaxed vibes of Merewether, where it's been located since 2019. It's a great spot to head to when you need fuelling up after a swim or surf at nearby Merewether Beach. Locals keep coming back for Convoy Commune's own speciality coffee blend and no-fuss food menu – acai bowl anyone?

Corner Lane Espresso
One of the three cafes in Newcastle brought to us by local coffee roasters, Laneways, Corner Lane Espresso is the community coffee shop that locals love. The house blend delivers a strong, rich, and punchy flavour with a smooth earthy finish.

Elma’s on Clyde
Situated on Hamilton North’s Clyde St, owners Nathan and Isla took over the old-school building on Clyde Street in May 2021. Since then, ELMAs has inserted itself as a go-to amongst the local community with their specialty coffee, worldly dishes, and killer welcoming vibes.

Equium Social
Equium Social not only boasts a wholesome, ethically sourced and seasonally influenced food menu, but its coffee always hits the spot too. The cafe is dog-friendly, so you can grab a spot outside and enjoy your coffee with your furry friend.

Fairmont Diner
The brainchild of local couple Mike (of The Falcon & The Ship Inn) and Freya, has quickly become a new local favourite thanks to its distinctive coffee offering (ST. ALi), diverse food menu, and retro interior.

Good Brother Espresso
Featuring recycled retro furniture and exposed brick walls, this Newcastle coffee shop exudes a warm and homey vibe.

Local Customs
Stepping into Local Customs, you certainly feel instantly relaxed. The expansive, leafy courtyard beckons, the staff are warm and friendly yet laid back, and the comfy furnishings invite you to stay awhile.

Lords
It’s all about fun vibes (and excellent coffee) at Lords Coffee & Associates. Featuring locally roasted and brewed, ethically sourced, signature specialty coffee, Lords has made itself a name in the local coffee scene and beyond, and now has two Newcastle locations.

Mr Sister
Unsurprisingly, the coffee gurus over at Mr. Sister Coffee are Newcastle coffee favourites. Originally setting up shop at Westfield Kotara, the local coffee legends are now serving their Supreme espresso blend and specialty coffee at two locations – Speers Point and our personal favourite over in the East End Village.

Sherwood
Since starting in 2017 as a hole-in-the-wall coffee joint in Newcastle West's Parry Street, Sherwood has become a Newcastle institution. It's even expanded to a whopping seven locations in total, so you're usually never too far away from a Sherwood.

Slingtown Espresso
This grungy cult coffee shop on the Islington end of Beaumont Street is renowned for its smooth, strong coffee. The sister offering to Good Brother Espresso, Slingtown is all about bringing its iconic coffee to the burbs of Newcastle. Stop in for a cup after browsing the nearby vintage shops and boutiques.

Spur
Head on over to Samdon Street in Hamilton, pull up a chair at Spur, enjoy a cup of expertly brewed coffee (Allpress Espresso), indulge in delicious food, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere.

The Kiosk at Newcastle Beach
Boasting some of the best latte sipping views along our spectacular coastline – pick a spot right by the cafe where you can kick back and watch the waves, spot some whales, and watch the world go by.

The Pocket Mayfield
Tucked away in a little corner of Mayfield, The Pocket Mayfield has been caffeinating Mayfield locals since 2014. This cafe pours Single O coffee – best paired with one of its delicious toasties.

Welsh Blacks
Sitting on the corner of Bull and Corlette Street in Cooks Hill, this little gem has become a favourite for both locals and visitors alike.

Wildflower
Located a stone’s throw away from the inner-city suburbs of Newcastle, Wildflower Espresso is Wallsend’s go-to for takeaway coffee. Owners Rianna and Jack Bingham are continuing to bring the much-needed coffee culture to the community, and locals are lapping it up.

Zaaki Espresso
This deliciously fresh and friendly espresso bar has built a reputation for being an absolute favourite for Mayfield locals. Brought to us by Penny and Anis, this cosy little cafe combines a collection of middle-eastern-inspired meals, a mouth-watering range of sweets, and coffee by St Dreux Coffee Roasters.
