Unsurprisingly, the coffee gurus over at Mr. Sister Coffee are Newcastle coffee favourites. Originally setting up shop at Westfield Kotara, the local coffee legends are now slinging out their Supreme espresso blend and specialty coffee at two locations – Speers Point and our personal favourite over in the East End Village.

2. Sherwood Coffee Bar
Since starting in 2017 as a hole-in-the-wall coffee joint in Newcastle West's Parry Street, Sherwood has become a Newcastle institution, expanding to a whopping seven locations in total. You can always expect upbeat, friendly service when you grab one of Sherwood's coffees made from its custom house blend.

3. Xtraction Espresso
Experience specialty coffee and street food at Xtraction Espresso, perched on Bolton Street. With true coffee connoisseur at the helm, Kenn, the local coffee shop is slinging out cups of coffee on the daily with beans from Melbourne-based coffee roaster Veneziano.

4. New Slang Coffee Brewers
Brought to you by local roasters, Unison Coffee Roasters, New Slang Coffee Brewers is one of the coolest coffee shops in the Newcastle CBD. Its sleek interiors will get you in, but it’s the specialty coffee that will keep you coming back for more.

5. Biggs
This takeaway coffee joint is the brainchild of the local coffee roasting gang over at Glitch Coffee Roasters. Serving up top-notch quality coffee alongside quick grab-n-go bites, visit Biggs in Hamilton and Wickham when those coffee cravings hit.

9. Baba Yaga

18. Welsh Blacks
Sitting on the corner of Bull and Corlette Street in Cooks Hill, this little gem has become a favourite for both locals and visitors alike. Expect to see a Seven Miles espresso blend and Darks Coffee Roasters Single Origin on the menu.

19. Sunnyboy Kiosk
