That’s right, Gillieston Heights has a brand-new tenant, Sherwood Coffee.

Opening on March 29th, the Sherwood Coffee team teamed up with us here at HUNTERhunter to give one lucky Gillieston Heights local the chance to win free coffee for a whole year from their new venue.

The Gillieston Heights cafe rounds out Sherwood’s venues to eight, expanding their top-notch coffee and approachable eats offering into the greater Hunter region.

With owners Danny and Emily back behind the wheel once more, Sherwood Coffee Gillieston Heights offers all that Sherwood has become known for.

“Reaching more people within the Newcastle area and surrounds has always been a driving factor. Gillieston Heights is an up-and-coming area with lots of young families, just like ours. Our goal has always been to create an environment that we would want to share with our family, and we hope this will resonate with the residents in Gillieston Heights too,” Danny shared.

Initial planning for the new space started back in September last year with the past six months being full steam ahead of planning, designing, and finalising the fit-out before opening in March.

Working once more with the ever-so-talented Adrian from Newcastle-based commercial fit out specialists, After Dark Design, the newest addition to the Sherwood venue line-up continues their signature brand aesthetic with timber accents and soft curves throughout.

“They just get the Sherwood vision so working with them again was a no-brainer. It was our first time starting with a brand-new space, as all of our other locations have been pre-existing spaces we’ve had to renovate. So, starting from scratch was a new and exciting opportunity for us.”

The new space offers their iconic Sherwood look with a slightly more elevated feel whilst still offering the perfect balance between casual and sophisticated.

“We want people to have a quality experience in a relaxed, comfortable space. Sherwood is for everyone and we want those who are new to Sherwood to feel welcomed into the light and airy space.”

For locals of Gillieston Heights, be assured you will be delighted with the arrival of Sherwood. Their dedication to good food and even better coffee is no doubt going to keep you all wanting them to open more venues across the area.

“We have a simple menu that brings things back to basics but done right. We’re pretty sure there’s something for everyone, regardless of your preferences.

“We have some pretty special offerings when it comes to our coffee. With a custom house blend roasted right here in Newcastle and some super tasty rotating single origin coffees, there’s always something fun to try or just some great beans turned into a classic cup of joe.”

The food menu will of course highlight the famous Sherwood toasties, alongside those classic Aussie brunch staples such as Avo Toast, Bacon & Egg Roll, and Acai Bowls, as well as some tasty baked goods and more.
