Newcastle Food Month launch an incredible line up of foodie feasts
Throughout the month of April Newcastle Food Month will be hosting an incredible lineup of more than 30 feature events and festivals, bringing together some of our region's brightest culinary talents.
From intimate tasting dinners and masterclasses with your favourite winemakers to a Seafood and Cider & Pork Festival, there is a Feature event for all tastes and flavours.
To get the month of April started a Chefs Table Masterclass is being held at The Essential Ingredient on April 1st, and concludes with a seafood degustation at The Signal Box on April 30th. Some of the other highlights on the Festival calendar of events include;
- Newcastle Seafood Festival
Discover for yourself why Throsby Basin is regarded as the seafood capital of Newcastle with local pubs, clubs, and restaurants plating up their best seafood dishes. The festival will also feature the Seafood Co-Op open day on Saturday 10th April.

If smaller, more intimate style events are more your style you’ll be loving the mix of Dinner Series events planned throughout the month of April. To whet your appetite here’s a few to consider;
- Thomas Wines X Nagisa X Shane’s Seafood
Nagisa Japanese restaurant and Hunter Valley winemaker Andrew Thomas will be taking you on a seafood journey. Working with Shane’s Seafood you will experience an incredible menu of locally sourced seafood and perfectly paired wines.
- Signal Box Pop-Up Sparkling and Oyster Bar
Newcastle’s iconic Signal Box will be transforming into a pop-up Sparkling and Oyster Bar during the month of April. Each Friday a different oyster variety will be on the menu and the grower will be on hand to shuck away.
- A Trip to France
Restaurant Mason’s Chris Thornton and Sommelier Stephane Pommier want to take you on a food journey through France. Featuring a 6-course French-inspired menu that is paired with French wines.
- Cheese & Wine Masterclass by Wine Selectors
Hosts, Black Pearl Epicure’s General Manager, cheese expert Peter Gross, and Wine Selectors’ Wine Educator Paul Diamond will guide you through some of the world’s best cheeses which have been perfectly paired with wine.
