Welcome to Hamilton, Lulu and Benson!

We’ve been watching the signage out the front of the venue for almost two years, patiently waiting for the doors to open. As of 31st of May, the venue officially opened and we’ve been sampling their hand-crafted soft serve, signature whirlys, milkshakes, and thickshakes ever since.

A first for not only Newcastle but Australia (as far as we know), Lulu and Benson is the very first milk bar for dogs AND humans.

Bringing back those old school milk bar vibes to include our very important fur friends, Lulu and Benson is home to dairy goodness for us humans, as well as a dedicated dog treat cabinet including dog PUPcakes and customisable dog cakes as well as doggy-friendly ice cream.

“We use all natural ingredients which makes it healthy for the dog. We’ve also got dog birthday cakes that we made in-house, and we do special made-to-order ones too.”

For the humans, the Lulu and Benson team have crafted a menu perfect for those afternoon sweet cravings or late-night pick-me-up. Starting with their housemade soft serve, you can always expect to get your hands on their Vanilla Bean plus another flavour that will rotate monthly.

“We’re using really high-quality jersey milk for our soft serve which makes all of the difference. It’s so thick and creamy and is unlike any soft serve you’ve had before.”

Building from either their Vanilla Bean or their flavour of the month, you can also get your hands on a milkshake, thick shake, a fancy waffle cone complete with uniquely house-made toppings, or their pièce de resistance; the Lulu and Benson Whirly.

“A whirly is like a really fancy blended ice cream. All of the yummy and delicious treats that we put into the whirly are all made on-site from scratch. It’s just a really thick, glorious, and creamy dessert; the ultimate late-night craving.”

Not stopping there, they’ve got their in-house pastry chef also serving up a delicious collection of tarts available to eat in or takeaway.

“The flavours will change daily. Great to take a box of six to a party or work celebration or just get your hands on a whole tart.”

Lulu and Benson is no doubt set to become a stop-in for all of us dog-crazed pet owners and sweet tooths alike.
