Onyx Espresso Bar

This absolute favourite of a venue in Mayfield has been building up its reputation as a foodie haven since its inception in 2017, but earlier this year, just prior to the new owners taking over, Onyx Espresso Bar launched their newest offering – the mighty freak shake!

First up is the Golden Gaytime complete with dulce de leche, caramel fudge, golden Gaytime popcorn, and Gaytime ice cream; the Ferrero Rocher with Nutella, Bueno, crushed hazelnuts, chocolate, and Ferrero; the Biscoff Caramilk with Biscoff spread, Caramilk ganache, Caramilk breakaway, and Biscoff crumbs; and lucky last, the Choc Fudge Brownie Sundae with choc fudge, pretzels, twirl, wafer, chocolate, cherry, and choc brownie.

The Junction-based foodie joint has become a favourite for gelato lovers, coffee drinkers, foodie finders, and everyone in between for years. Dropping into this sweet tooth haven, diners can expect the unexpected with triple scoop waffle cones, a Nutella fountain, an abundance of toppings, and of course, gelato thick shakes!

XS Espresso Kotara / XS Espresso Jesmond / XS Espresso Bennetts Green

The Sydney original café originally came to Newcastle with their Jesmond store in 2020 before launching at Kotara and most recently, Bennetts Green. Offering some of the most tantalising food and drink options, their Signature Shakes are a crowd-pleaser!

The Original Cronut comes complete with salted caramel, Oreo, Tim Tam, and a Belgian chocolate shake topped with a cronut full of Kit Kats, M&M’s. wafer sticks, Maltesers, and Caramello Koalas.

The Volcano features a Nutella, coconut, and Oreo shake topped with a warm chocolate souffle. Next is the Monster; Oreo, Tim Tam, and Belgian chocolate shake topped with pieces of waffle, whipped cream, Oreos, and Tim Tam
