Shams Kebab House

The only Afghan restaurant in Newcastle and guess where they are? On Beaumont St in Hamilton! If you’ve yet to give Afghan cuisines a try, try not to head to the typical ‘kebab’ order, instead ask the staff for some guidance – they’ll make sure to keep your tastebuds satisfied! Our picks? The Vegetarian Karahi with naan and salad, marinated with salt, garlic, ginger, chilli, and tomato, or the Kabuli Pulao; cumin-spiced rice with meat, carrot, and sultana, served with naan and salad.

Egyptian

Kings Valley Egyptian

Located on the corner of Beaumont and Cleary St, head upstairs to Kings Valley Egyptian Restaurant. Open for lunch and dinner, enjoy authentic Egyptian cuisine choosing from an array of meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes, with most of the food being gluten-free. Sit inside, or on the balcony, with live music and belly dancers performing most Friday and Saturday nights.

The Greek Taverna

There are only a few spots around town that offer great Greek food, and The Greek Taverna is one of them. Demanding your attention with one mighty façade, the Hellenic building has been part of the Greek Church and the wider Greek community here in Newcastle since its inception in 2002.

Kings XI

This iconic Indian foodie gem has called Beaumont St home since 2017 and whilst it’s a favourite for Indian food lovers, it’s the cricket fans that are also heading in for a dish at Kings XI. Another little tidbit? They’ve got the coolest courtyard that most people don’t even know about!

This family-owned and run Italian restaurant has been operating for the past six years and is always serving up some of the best Italian eats across Newcastle. Located in the Hamilton Plaza precinct, it’s a little off the beaten track but worth the extra effort.

We’ve been patiently awaiting the opening of this new space on Beaumont St for the last 12-months, and it’s finally open! Located in the old Barcito spot, Bangkok Nights is literally like taking a step straight into Thailand. Serving up not only all of us Westerners' favourite Thai dishes, but Bangkok Nights are also slinging out the best of the best when it comes to traditional Thai food.
