A modern take on classic fish & chips on Budgewoi’s waterfront
The Swordfish Co. has opened its doors in Budgewoi showcasing classic fish and chips, gourmet burgers, grilled seafood, and fresh salads.
Owners, Garry and Mel, are bringing over 18 years of hospitality and customer service experience to the table.
“We brought in our executive chef, and collaborated to create the perfect fish and chips, but with a modern twist. We use only the best ingredients and produce of utmost quality.
“We had a strong vision to create an offering and service that would delight our local and visiting customers. No difficulties were going to stop that,” Garry said.
Whether you're in the mood for Crumbed Calamari, Prawn Cutlets, Pineapple Fritters, or their signature Seafood Basket and platter for two, there's something for every seafood lover.
The Swordfish Co. also caters to kids with house-made nuggets and freshly battered New Zealand Hoki fish cocktails. To satisfy your sweet tooth, don't miss their gelato with flavours like bubblegum, Nutella, and salted caramel.
What sets Swordfish Co apart from other fish and chip joints is their commitment to delivering not only delicious food but a vibrant customer experience.
“Our focus is delivering delicious fresh seafood with great service. It’s that simple.”
Guests can enjoy their meals alongside the waterfront, making it the perfect summer spot.
“It’s the ultimate casual dining experience where you can enjoy a wine or beer with some fresh fish, by the water.”
When it comes to sourcing their produce, The Swordfish Co. prioritises quality and locality. They get fresh oysters from Empire Bay Oysters, while their market seafood comes from trusted suppliers like Better Choices Fisheries and Shane’s Seafood. Their fresh produce is sourced from local legends, Fruit Brothers.
The seafood selection at The Swordfish Co. is impressive, featuring Aussie tiger prawns, fresh Balmain bugs, New Zealand snapper and hoki, Sydney rock oysters, QLD barramundi, QLD sand whiting, flathead, calamari, and more.
If seafood isn't your craving of the day, you can opt for the Southern Fried Chicken Burger or the already much-loved fresh Beetroot and Walnut Salad.
The choice of location for The Swordfish Co. was driven by the allure of the waterfront spot, offering breathtaking water views and a spacious area to cater to their customers' needs.
“We had the opportunity to take over this special corner of Budgewoi and we couldn’t refuse. With beautiful water views and a large dining area – it’s a dream space.”
The Swordfish Co. is suitable for all occasions, from family dinners to date nights. It is kid-friendly, with a play space for little ones.
“We’re passionate about good food and delivering a great vibe, it’s ingrained in our DNA, feeding people and creating customer satisfaction and enjoyment is such a reward to us.”
The restaurant's design and fit-out is both inviting and fresh.
“We knew we wanted a bright space that brought the beauty out of the outdoor waterfront dining area inside – our interior designers, After Dark, nailed it.”
The Swordfish Co. hosts live music events, creating a fantastic atmosphere for guests.
"We’ve invited a couple of local live musicians to play over lunchtime and sunset, while our customers enjoy their meals and drinks with awesome tunes. What better combo than waterfront dining, tunes, and good vibes!”
I’m told there will be more permanent sunset acoustic sessions during the summer months.
For those looking for special deals, The Swordfish Co. offers exclusive specials through their VIP Club, as well as beer buckets – perfect for gatherings by the water.
They currently offer dine-in and takeaway, which can be conveniently ordered through their website, with delivery services coming soon.
