Newcastle's biggest Kate Bush dance returns
Red dresses, windswept dancing, and plenty of theatrical flair are set to take over King Edward Park as Newcastle celebrates the 10th anniversary of The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever.
On Sunday, August 2, hundreds of Kate Bush fans will gather at King Edward Park to recreate the iconic Wuthering Heights dance in a joyful celebration that's become a worldwide phenomenon.
Whether you're a lifelong Kate Bush fan or looking for one of Newcastle's most delightfully quirky community events, The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever promises an afternoon unlike any other.
Part of a coordinated global celebration held in cities around the world, the event invites people of all ages, genders, and dance abilities to don their finest red frocks (or simply something red) and learn the famous choreography from Kate Bush's 1978 hit, Wuthering Heights.
The day begins at 11:30am, with organisers leading warm-ups, dance run-throughs, and practice sessions before the main event kicks off at 12:30pm, when hundreds of participants will perform the iconic routine together overlooking Newcastle's coastline.
More than just a fun spectacle, the event is about bringing people together through music, movement and shared joy. This year's gathering will also raise funds for Warlga Ngurra Women's and Children's Refuge, with donations welcomed on the day.
No dance experience is required, and first-timers are encouraged to jump in and join the fun. It's all about embracing the melodrama, having a laugh, and becoming part of a global community of "Wutherers".
If wet weather arrives, the event will be postponed to Sunday, August 9, with organisers also planning a wet-weather venue if required.
