Meet local heroes at Glendale Community Day
Looking for a free family day out? Glendale City Centre's Community Day is back with a fun-filled program celebrating the local organisations, emergency services, and community groups that help make Lake Macquarie such a great place to live.
On Saturday, August 29, Glendale City Centre is bringing together local heroes, live entertainment, hands-on activities, and market stalls for a fun-filled Community Day.
Held alongside the weekly Glendale Farmers & Artisan Market, the free event offers plenty to see and do, with interactive displays, hands-on activities, and the chance to meet some of the region's everyday heroes.
Families can get up close to emergency service vehicles from NSW Police, Fire and Rescue NSW, and the SES, with local crews on hand to chat about their work and answer questions.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet Sergeant Jim, the Lake Macquarie Police District's specially outfitted Suzuki Jimny, alongside members of the local police team.
Kids can burn off some energy on a free mini gymnastics course hosted by Hunter Sports Centre before enjoying complimentary face painting and craft activities.
Throughout the day, roaming entertainers including stilt walkers, jugglers, and hula hoop performers will keep the atmosphere lively, while visitors can also meet some of the adorable dogs looking for their forever homes with Dog Rescue Newcastle.
While you're there, don't forget to wander through the Glendale Farmers & Artisan Market, open from 8am to 2pm each Saturday, where you'll find fresh produce, artisan goods, handmade products, and local treats.
Visitors can also enter the Community Day competition for the chance to win one of two $250 Glendale City Centre gift cards by scanning the QR code and completing the entry form on the day.
