What's On

Get ready to raise your glass (or tasting cup) one last time

After a huge event last year that saw crowds turn out rain, hail or shine, the city’s favourite craft celebration returned to King Edward Park on Saturday 28 March, in what is the last time event organisors Taiyo Namba and Luke Tilse will be running the show.

After 10 years, the duo have decided to call it a day, leaving a craft beer legacy that will be hard to match.

Newcastle Beer Fest

This year, 44 brewers were on site, showcasing an extensive lineup of independent craft beer alongside cider, hard lemonade and non-alcoholic options.

Local favourites including Method Brewing, Grainfed Brewing Company, Good Folk Brewing and Shout Brewing Co. plus renowned names such as Bentspoke Brewing Co, Capital Brewing Co, and The Grifter Brewing Co, were again on hand ensuring a beer lover's paradise.

Expect festival exclusives too, including special small-batch releases brewed just for the day.

Returning to the iconic King Edward Park, Newcastle Beer Fest had the crowds soaking up the sun, listening to live music, quality eats, all the while enjoying a huge lineup of independent brews.

Set against one of Newcastle’s most spectacular coastal backdrops, King Edward Park delivers plenty of lawn space to settle in with your crew. There were brewer talks, local live music across the day, and a lineup of food trucks serving everything you needed to balance out the brews.

Brought to you by two of Newcastle’s most colourful hospitality characters, Luke Tilse from The Happy Wombat and Taiyo Namba from Nagisa, Susuru, and Âpé Yakitori Bar, Newcastle Beer Fest started as a collaboration event in Honeysuckle, known as the Boardwalk Beer Festival.

The event has evolved into a celebration of independent beer, aimed at elevating the category within Newcastle and showcasing the city's rich brewing culture.
