Brewing behind the scenes on Beaumont Street
When Good Folk Brewing first opened their doors on Beaumont Street in 2022, the Hamilton community embraced it with opened arms.
Brought to us by the Elsley family, well known in Newcastle’s hospitality scene through their other venues including The Blind Monk, Bartholomew’s, and The Grand Hotel, had their first foray into the craft beer industry pairing fresh brews with a casual food offering in a bustling brewery setting.
Fast forward to today, and while the public bar and kitchen may no longer be part of Good Folk’s day-to-day, the brewery’s story is far from over. The space once filled with beer-loving customers has been handed over to Danny’s Pizza, allowing Good Folk Brewing to focus purely on what they do best – crafting exceptional award winning beer.
It’s been a strong run since their launch, with the brewery quickly earning national recognition. Within their first year, Good Folk walked away with a gold medal at the Australian International Beer Awards for their Danny’s Wedge Tropical Pale Ale, alongside multiple bronzes for other styles.

Seasonal and experimental releases have also kept things fresh, from a Native Sour to a Nitro Red Ale, each brewed in small batches for a unique, one-off drinking experience.
Now operating solely as a production brewery, Good Folk’s beers can be found flowing from taps at local venues and stocked in craft beer bottle shops across Newcastle and beyond.
