Enjoy the aromatic flavours of Tasmania’s coffee scene with Coffee Selectors
With the easing of restrictions coming into play this week, and regional travel opening back up within NSW, it may have satisfied some of our travel needs, but there’s still no doubt there’s many of us yearning for a little bit more.
Whilst overseas travel still might be a little while away, there’s one local business who is giving us the opportunity to taste the flavours of Tasmania from the comfort of our own homes. That is, Coffee Selectors newly launched Tasmania Coffee Box Choice Selection!
We first caught up with the Newcastle-born start-up, Coffee Selectors and their brains behind the business, Jessica Sullivan, just a few short months ago to learn all about the brand’s mission – to connect coffee lovers with the best coffee around Australia!
Keeping with their mission for searching for the best coffee, this month’s coffee box is featuring all of the best flavours coming out of Tasmania, giving you the opportunity to taste the blends of the region right from the comfort of your own home.
So here goes, Coffee Selectors top Tasmanian blends for home baristas!
First off the bat is Ritual Coffee Roaster’s Reserve Blend. These guys are based in Launceston and have played a pioneering and vibrant part of the local coffee scene since their inception 12 years ago. Their mighty popular Reserve Blend is found in venues all over Tasmania and now, you can try it at home!
“This season’s blend combines washed processed beans from Colombia and Ethiopia producing a coffee that’s brimming with creamy chocolate notes and a hint of apricot.”
Up next is Straight Up Roaster’s Smooth Criminal Blend! The all-female roastery and café based in Hobart continues to kill it in the coffee world with their Smooth Criminal blend the one to champion. Featuring a sweet aroma of caramel, ripe peach, and blackcurrant, the fresh and nutty notes are sure make an impact. With this blend taking home silver in the Espresso (short black) category at the Golden Bean Awards in 2019, one sip and you’ll understand why.
The third blend featuring in this round of Coffee Selectors choice collection is none other than Ludwig The Merchant Coffee Roastery’s Arch Duke blend. This artisan micro-roastery based in Hobart could just be Tasmania’s next-big thing! Just one year old, the roastery’s Arch Duke blend was created by 28 year-old Engineering Uni student, Jesse Ryland, who has been roasting coffee for 12 years, yep do the maths – he’s been roasting since just 16 years old!
“It’s a blend of 70% Colombian Huila washed and 30% Ethiopian yirgacheffe washed. Roasted on the dark side, Arch Duke is reminiscent of chocolate desserts, hints of hazelnut chocolates with subtle tones of forest berries.”
Lucky last is the Synergy blend by Villino, an early player in Tasmania’s specialty coffee scene! The classic blend of three origins, the Synergy blend is the product of years of dedicated roasting and blending to create a perfectly balanced coffee experience.
“The Synergy blend is rich, sweet, and full-bodied with a caramel character, syrupy fruitiness, and floral notes. They say it’s perfect for Home Baristas who like a rich, creamy coffee that cuts through milk.”
