The Darby Street deli & bar launches weekend brunch

In July 2022, Darby Street welcomed a brand-new eatery to its already amazing lineup of cafes, restaurants, and bars – Urban Deli & Bar.

Over the past 18 months owners, Tim and Kasia, have brought a unique flavour to Cooks Hill with their iconic build-your-own charcuterie boards, monthly themed long lunch events, and the local favourites menu has been amongst our personal highlights.

“One of our highlights would have to be our themed monthly event, Long Lunch, they are so much fun to run, and we get to learn a lot about these products ourselves. Our next event is Northern Spain with food and wine pairing on the 17th of February – we highly recommend coming to experience this culinary journey through Europe,” Kasia said.

Starting this Saturday, the 10th of February, Urban Deli & Bar will be launching a new addition to its already delicious lineup of food and events. Introducing Weekend Brunch at Urban Deli & Bar.

“There were a couple of factors that prompted our decision to offer weekend brunch. The main reason is that Darby Street is known as a breakfast and brunch spot, so we decided to take that opportunity and go with the vibe.

“We will still keep with our European brief and add our signature twist on Australian brunch classics.”

The menu is oozing with unique flavour pairings, from the Croatian Eggs and Chorizo & Bean Stew to the Urban Deli twist on Corn Fritters and Avocado on Toast – there’s a little something for everyone.

“My personal favourite is Filled Mushroom Ragu with polenta, roasted almonds, and feta. Simply because I love anything with mushrooms and cheese!”

Additionally, you can of course expect an extended list of coffee and tea offerings, the drinks menu will also feature cold press juices as well as the signature Bar Beach Cooler, made with Hendricks gin, elderflower liqueur, citrus, and cucumbers; a Classic Mimosa; and Urban Deli’s signature Bloody Mary, crafted with freshly made juice from The Healthy Cocktail.

Urban Deli & Bar’s Weekend Brunch menu will be available every Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am-12pm, and bookings are highly encouraged!

For those keen to settle in for lunch, you’ll be excited to learn that Urban Deli & Bar is still offering their lunch specials from 12pm-3pm, Wednesday through Sunday. Each meal includes a glass of house wine or beer or a soft drink.

“We’ve also got quite a few events planned for 2024. We will have Newcastle Food Month in April where we will do a cheese and wine pairing. We will also be collaborating with Jessica from McLeish Estate for wine-tasting dinners, plus we have a champagne and caviar event coming up. We are always keeping busy to create something for our guests.”
