Sunnyboy Park

The bold new spot that's turning heads along the foreshore.

There's a new energy along the foreshore, thanks to the brand new – bright red – Sunnyboy Park.

Brought to you by brother-and-sister duo, Tom and Nova, this pair are no strangers to the Newcastle hospitality scene. The minds behind Morning Market Coffee in Whitebridge, Newcastle West, and Warners Bay, as well as the local favourite sunrise spot – Sunnyboy Kiosk.

Sunnyboy Park is their latest venture and boy, can you tell this isn't their first rodeo!

Immediately breathing fresh life into Foreshore Park, nestled in-between Customs House, the iconic train sheds, and the harbour. The area has quickly become a meeting place for friends, families, and the wider community.

"Before opening, the area was very quiet. Now the park is full of people enjoying the space. It’s actually really special” says the duo.

When we visited, the park was flocked with visitors, some surrounding the bright red community table, others on picnic rugs or taking shade under a tree, and plenty of little ones out and about.

The duo says their philosophy for Sunnyboy has been clear from the beginning:

"Great food, great coffee & a relaxed atmosphere which is truly just Newcastle lifestyle to its core"

Boasting two espresso machines, coffees are firing out of the striking curved front bar, all made on Single O’s ‘yeehaw’ blend freshly roasted out of Sydney.

The new location brings with it some special park-only exclusives. Wood fire panini sandwiches and specialty cold foam topped drinks are the latest additions. The choc espresso cloud, and strawberry cold brew are early favourites, though there's a pretty extensive list to work through.

"My personal fav is definitely the Le Boof panini, honestly life changing, but the Caesar Schnit Panini has been the crowd favourite by a mile"

The park location is soon to be neighboured by a playground and waterplay area that is currently undergoing construction, and is expected to open in the second half of this year. Foreshore Park is sure to be a hub for long, easy family hang outs along the harbour, with plenty of coffee nearby.

"Just something casual and easy that everyone can meet and order as you please – friends come and go - just the Newcastle way"

While only being open for a few weeks, Sunnyboy is settling into their new Foreshore Park home quite nicely.
