Sunnyboy Kiosk

Dixon Park’s long-awaited café is here

We first heard of the news that a new café was coming to Dixon park well and truly over a year ago. After patiently waiting to see the venue come to life, Sunnnyboy Kiosk officially launched in 2022/23 summer.

Brought to you by the brother and sister duo, Tom and Nova behind Morning Market Coffee in Whitebridge and Wickham, Sunnyboy Kiosk is the pair's newest addition, and my golly it packs a punch.

Having won the tender for the iconic Dixon Park location back in late 2021, to say the opening has been a long-time coming is quite the understatement.

“We finally got the green light to work on the space at the end of October 2022 and it’s just been all hands on deck to get open,” Tom shared.

The new kiosk first started serving customers right in time for the summer season on Friday, 16th of December. The freshly decked-out space inside the old storage shed for Dixon Park’s SLSC brings a new and tasty offering to our Bathers Way walk.

The freshly designed brand reflects the on-trend focus of wanting to bring a few of our retro childhood memories back into modern society. Complete with fresh colours and even their own Sunnyboy character, the kiosk is exactly what the local beachside community needed.

What exactly can you expect on a visit to Sunnyboy Kiosk?

Currently opening from 6am-4pm, seven days a week, Sunnyboy Kiosk is your new go-to for the early morning coffee run, relaxed beachside smoothie catchups, afternoon gelato, early dinners, and everything in between.

The venue boasts not one but TWO coffee machines and TWO grinders, meaning that your rush hour coffee order won’t have you waiting for too long.

“We’re trying to be really fast and efficient. We built the venue around having more gear in here so that we could meet the demand.”

Speaking of coffee, the duo has held onto their strong relationship with Sydney-based coffee roasters, Seven Miles, and their iconic The Cat’s Pyjamas blend.

Moving into their food offering, they’ve got everything from light grab n’ go snacks, tasty treats, and those iconic Aussie beachside hot food meals. Their range of sweet and savoury pastries comes from a local bakery and have been disappearing off the shelves every morning.

As expected, over the summer a crowd favourite has undoubtedly been Sunnyboy Kiosk’s take on the iconic Acai Bowl. With Acai from local legends Berry Brothers, the Sunnyboy Kiosk Acai Bowl comes complete with granola and seasonal fruit with peanut butter, Nutella, and Biscoff available as add-ons.

The all-day menu features a bunch of other tasty dishes including a traditional Bacon & Egg Roll, Avocado Toast, Sausage & Egg Muffin, and a Breakfast Burger, just to name a few.

From 11am each day, keen diners can get their hands on the selection of hot food items including fish n’ chips, a selection of burgers, salt n’ pepper squid, and more.

“Think of us like your traditional takeaway shop, but a little bit higher end,” Nova said.

For those warm afternoons, the space is also stocked with a selection of 13 flavours of gelato; created by the team at The Hood Milkbar.

Now, there is one rather large audience member that Sunnyboy Kiosk has paid particular attention to; the dogs!

“We want to really tap into our doggy audience. With Dixon Park being a dog-friendly park and off-leash area zone at times, we’ve really created a unique offering for them too. We’ve got two different dog treats from Canine Catering and of course puppacinos.”

Having only been opening a few short weeks but having already garnered so much attention and weekends finding the kiosk completely overridden with keen passersby, we have so much excitement for where Sunnyboy Kiosk’s future is headed. To check out what all the fuss is about, we highly suggest checking out the new spot for yourselves!
