Newcastle foodies rejoice – modern Asian cuisine is coming to Darby St!
We have news! The 2017 Byron Bay founded venue; Light Years Asian Diner is coming to Newcastle!
If you’ve been along the North end of Darby St over the past few months, you may have noticed some construction happening behind a big pink façade in the old Maverick’s spot. Yep, Light Years Asian Diner is setting up along one of Newcastle’s go-to dining strips and it’s going to pack a punch.
With Creative Director Kim Stephen, Executive Chef Robbie Oijvall, and Managing Director James Sutherland, at the helm, Light Years Asian Diner is due to launch here in Newcastle come Spring!
Since its inception in 2017, the Asian diner has since opened a further two venues, Noosa, and Burleigh Heads, making Newcastle venue no.4 along our country’s beautiful East coast.
Ever heard of Light Years Asian Diner? If you’ve yet to stumble into one of the lush tropical-themed venues up our east coast, let us take you on a little journey so you know exactly what you’re in for come their Newcastle venue’s springtime launch.
Awesome modern Asian food, delicious cocktails, and a ‘jump out of your seat’ party vibe is at the core of all things Light Years Asian Diner.
“Rounding out the full experience – the soundtrack is fun, the lights are dim, and the vibes are always high.”
With Newcastle being the largest venue of the four, the boys have got big plans for the space with two very unique and separate dining areas.
The 150-180 downstairs seating space will feature lots of colour and plenty of wow factor. Heading upstairs into Shelly’s, you’ll be greeted with a more casual yet sophisticated cocktail bar and lounge decked out with a neutral colour palette.
