Standing at 115 Darby St the sign says, 5 Sawyers, 'A bar with food', which is perhaps a little understated given what's going on inside. With a few new faces on board, 5 Sawyers has its mojo back and is serving up some impressive food and drink combos. 

Most impressive is the new 'Pick Me Up Martinis' menu, a specially crafted espresso martini menu that features 8 different flavours to work your way through. Including the Black Forest Cake, Caramel Creme and 'The Delish' complete w/ Vanilla Vodka, White Creme de Cacao and Kahlua - are just a hint of what you can expect.

The food menu has also had a bit of a makeover with heaps of different char-grilled or slow cooked meats, poultry and seafood options. All of which are full of flavour and particularly moreish. 

The desserts are on another level and perfectly complement the Martini Menu. Our personal highlights include the Chocolate tasting plate and the Caramel fritters rolled in cinnamon sugar w/ vanilla bean ice-cream.

Aside from the drinks, the food and the atmosphere, what's most to like about 5 Sawyers is the way in which Newcastle's heritage has been weaved into the bar's interior. The story of the city's past is told through its quirky art, not in a kitsch or tacky way, instead subtly and well thought out.
