Frenchie brings her relaxed, wine-loving energy to Darby Street
Frenchie has officially entered her Darby Street era.

After starting out in Carrington, the much-loved restaurant has reopened at 9 Darby Street, bringing its warm hospitality, thoughtful food, and charming energy into one of Newcastle’s busiest dining precincts.

The move marks a new chapter for the much-loved restaurant, but under Group Executive Chef Rafael Tonon, the heart of the Frenchie remains the same – expect all the familiar menu favourites, an interesting wine list, relaxed service, and that unique Frenchie atmosphere. Charming, confident, a little cheeky, and never too serious.

Now sitting right in the city, Frenchie’s new Darby Street home gives the team the chance to bring that personality into a fresh space while continuing to offer the polished but unpretentious experience the restaurant is known for.
“Frenchie has always been about good food, good wine, and good company,” the team said.

“Moving to Darby Street feels like the perfect next step. It gives us the chance to bring Frenchie’s personality into a beautiful new space and welcome people in for relaxed dinners, long conversations and really good times. It feels like a coming of age story, she’s a city girl now!”
Looking at the menu, it continues to deliver that signature French flair – Duck liver parfait, Mussels alla “Barigoule”, Beef Tartare and French fries, Fillet Mignon, and Pumpkin Gnoccetti with sage and goats curd are just a few to look forward to.
Frenchie is now open for dinner from 5pm, Wednesday to Saturday, with lunches set to launch soon.
