A fresh take on everyday takeaway hits Darby Street

A new lunchtime option is landing in Newcastle next week, with CHARRED opening at 9 Darby Street (right next door to Light Years) adding to the area’s ever-evolving and vibrant food precinct.

Designed for real life and repeat visits, CHARRED offers a modern menu of bowls, buns, and boxes, built around a flexible mix of char-grilled meats, fresh salads, hearty sides, and house-made sauces.

If you're feeling a little creative, you can get mixing and matching any one of the bowls, buns, and boxes to suit your tastes and create some new favourite flavours.

CHARRED

CHARRED is about everyday takeaway – food that’s satisfying without being heavy, healthy-leaning, wholesome and full of flavour, and something enjoyed regularly, not just as an occasional treat.

The experience is casual, fast and fun, with a strong focus on balance and feel-good eating.

Co-founder Mitch Steel says the idea for CHARRED came from wanting more everyday options that still deliver on flavour.

CHARRED

“We wanted to create a place people can drop into during the week – food that’s quick, full of flavour and leaves you feeling good after eating it,” Mitch said.

“CHARRED is designed to fit into your routine. It’s the kind of food you can come back to again and again.”

CHARRED

CHARRED launches as a lunch-only venue, with a pick-up focus to begin and plans to introduce delivery services over time.

Limited seating is available for those who prefer to dine in, along with relaxed outdoor seating perfect for watching Darby Street go by.

CHARRED brings a bold identity and an approachable menu to one of the city’s most dynamic food precincts, offering a fresh and flexible lunchtime option. Doors open Monday, February 16.
