Pull up to Hawkesbury Brewing in Lisarow and you’ll be in awe of the gigantic warehouse space decked out in black and timber, that houses not only a functioning brewery and bar but dining area, mammoth big screen TV, performance space, outdoor courtyard, interactive games, and food trucks. 

"We’re not just a company that brews beer, but a company that creates amazing days and weekends and experiences for people,” said Brand & Events Ambassador Chloe. 

Started in Mount Kuring-gai as a small brewery, Hawkesbury Brewing has become a pride of the Central Coast for its consistent and high-quality range of 12 beers. Outgrowing the original space, the team used COVID as an opportunity to dream up exactly what they wanted to be, and opening in November 2022 this is it.

Hawkesbury Brewing is now a factory, brewery, and taphouse all on the same site for the enjoyment of bringing people together. 

“We don't just want to be known for our beer. We want to make our core range of 12 beers absolutely jaw-dropping and then facilitate our events to become a proud nationwide creator of experiences based here on the Central Coast.”

Hawkesbury Brewing has already hosted a number of events such as their own Drag show ‘Brew Queens’, stand-up comedy shows, live music, and the upcoming Month of Art in June which will see a gallery space for Central Coast artists, a live auction, art classes, and competitions. 

The concept stems from bringing people together (reflected in the iconic Hawkesbury Bridge logo) through the shared social experience of craft beer then surprising and engaging customers with activities and memorable experiences. 

“We’re currently building a barbershop in the corner of the brewery, there is a shared office space coming, kids' play area with a mini Ninja Warrior wall, indoor hockey, and basketball because we are lucky that we have space to do so many things.

“We want to be somewhere that people can come 7 days a week and just relax, and have things to do. I'm just watching a mum and her kids playing ping pong right now!”

The beer and food remain high quality and super tasty with everything behind the bar made on site including their soft drink, alcoholic ginger beer, vodka spritz, and margarita on tap (we’re also told wine is coming). The Hawkesbury Brewing Prohibition Pale Ale won silver at the 2021 World Beer Awards, and they’ve represented the Central Coast at several craft beer fairs. 

“Growing up on the Central Coast it was a massive lager town, then craft beer came in and the Coast really embraced it. We’ve got some awesome breweries like Six Strings, Bay Rd, Bucketies, and Goons, and microbreweries keep popping up around the Coast and people love it here now.”

If you’re after a feed, you’ll be met with featured food trucks such as Piggy N Moo and El's Fried Chicken to fuel up before another round of giant Jenga or dancing to live music. 

Hawkesbury Brewing is more than just beer but is a company giving Coasties things to do and fun to be had. 

“Our taphouse is only the very very beginning, it's something that we really want people to have a home here on the central coast though we are aiming much higher, so stay tuned.”
