From Paella to pop-up bars – Darby Street Festival returned with a bang
One of Newcastle’s most beloved streets came alive with the return of the Darby Street Festival – a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of local culture, creativity, and community spirit.
On Saturday, November 8, Darby Street transformed into a lively alfresco precinct between Bull and Queen Streets from 12pm to 8pm, offering a full day of free entertainment, live music, food stalls, pop-up bars, and activities for all ages.

With the street closed to traffic, festival-goers wandered freely, soaking up the atmosphere, and enjoy the best that the Darby Street community has to offer.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to shine a spotlight on Darby Street – reigniting the vibrancy, character, and pulse that define it.
“Over time, the street has evolved, but its steadfast dedication to an eclectic, locally driven mix of small businesses – each deeply passionate about crafting memorable products and experiences for the Newcastle community – remains unchanged,” Hey Tilly owner, Sarah Madden said.
The festival showcases Newcastle’s thriving small business and hospitality scene, with restaurants, cafes, retailers, and street traders from Darby Street coming together in a unique open-air celebration.
Visitors experienced a dynamic program of live acoustic performances, main stage music acts, and creative activations scattered along the strip.
