QT Newcastle’s Executive Chef, Shayne Mansfield welcomes dessert king, Reece Hignell of Cakeboi, into the kitchen to create a lavish high tea experience.

Served in QT Newcastle’s signature restaurant, Jana, the two-course affair features a selection of sweet and savoury dishes and promises tiers, trolleys, and an appetite for the unconventional.

Guests will eat their way through tiered savouries by QT Newcastle’s award-winning chef, and enjoy delicacies including charcoal bread, duck leg croquettes plus merguez sausage pies, Shayne’s take on a traditional pie.

Then, cake.

Make way for the Cakeboi trolley meeting you at every turn at Jana. Sweet delicacies are served from trolley to table, for an elegant rebellion against tradition. Claim a slice of layered honey cake or flag down the fluffiest Victoria strawberry sponge. 

Reece calls the partnership a no-brainer as both he and Shayne pay homage to family recipes passed down through generations. Adding an additional layer of unconventional, QTea will offer an equally sumptuous plant-based menu.

“Collaborating with the talented Executive Chef, Shayne Mansfield, has been nothing but harmonious. His innovative cooking style complements the artistic architecture of the building,” Reece said.

QTea attendees will receive a riotous welcome with QTea’s signature Ketel Iced Tea cocktail, infused with premium Ketel One Vodka. For those who prefer to flex their littlest finger without the boozy punch of fun, QT Newcastle have collaborated with local tea merchant, The Tea Collective, to create a bespoke QT Breakfast Tea blend, an infusion of vanilla bean and sweet currants.
