Newcastle Airport’s biggest moments of 2025
Written by Jane Hollier
Passports on the ready! 2025 has been a huge year for Newcastle Airport. From the opening of an international terminal to new domestic escapes, here are six standout moments.
Newcastle to Bali
It was a jaw-to-the-floor moment this year when Newcastle Airport welcomed an international service with direct flights to Bali. In the 6 hours it takes to get to Denpasar you can read a book, watch a few movies, or take a well deserved nap before heading to Bali’s iconic beaches, temples, and award-winning restaurants.
To make your trip to Bali even more streamlined, use Newcastle Airport’s Mystery Car Park Offer with 7 days for just $79 when you book early online.

Singapore via Bali
In more international travel news, it was recently announced that from March 29 2026, Jetstar will be introducing a new same-plane service from Newcastle Airport to Singapore via Bali.
Here’s how it works:
→ Book one ticket from Newcastle Airport to Singapore
→ Depart Newcastle after breakfast
→ Make a quick stopover in Bali (just 90 mins), and your bags are checked in all the way to Singapore
→ Just in time for dinner in Singapore

From then it’s up to you which world-class dining and shopping to indulge in. Look, we were never going to need much convincing to visit Singapore, but soon it will be easier than ever.
Newcastle to Perth
It’s time to put Perth on your travel list. Flights with Qantas now leave Newcastle Airport three days a week, taking you to one of Australia’s most iconic cities.

Think markets, cafes, inner-city parks, museums and a coast line of stunning beaches. While you’re in Perth, don’t forget to take a selfie with a quokka (Australia’s cutest marsupial) at Rottnest Island and visit a winery or two in Swan Valley.
Newcastle to Hobart
Hello Hobart! 2025 saw new Jetstar flights from Newcastle Airport to Hobart with a flight time of just 1 hour and 50 minutes. Leaving Newcastle 3 times a week, it’s ideal for short breaks to experience Hobart’s must-sees, like local art and produce at the Salamanca Market or exploring the MONA.

Alternatively, indulge in a longer stay and get in touch with Tasmania’s awe-inducing landscapes, such as Bruny Island, Russell Falls, and Cradle Mountain.
More flights to the Gold Coast
In March FlyPelican introduced early morning flights 4 days a week from Newcastle Airport to the Gold Coast. This has been a game-changer for day-trip adventurers and business travellers, where time is scarce and every moment counts.

With just 1.5 hours of flight time, you’ll barely have the chance to whip out your phone before disembarking and getting your dreamy day at the Gold Coast started (surfing anyone?).
Brand new International terminal
In July, Newcastle Airport opened its spectacular new international terminal, and it’s a serious upgrade. Step inside and you’re instantly struck by the sense of space.

Featuring three baggage carousels and Crosswinds Coffee Co. for that all-important coffee pick-me-up, the terminal also boasts floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the runway, filling the space with natural light and offering the perfect viewing platform.

Look above and you’ll spot the stunning roof installation, inspired by Stockton Bight. Whether you’re returning home or touching down for the first time, it’s a space designed to make you feel instantly at ease.
It’s been an epic year for Newcastle Airport and local jet-setters
With direct flights to Bali and more domestic routes to choose from than ever, it’s hard to pick a favourite moment from 2025. All we know for sure is that we can’t wait to see what Newcastle Airport brings in 2026.
