A bold new chapter is ready for take-off at Newcastle Airport
Four years in the making and requiring over 314,000 hours of construction, Newcastle Airport is right on track, with all arriving passengers now entering via the new terminal from July 28 - marking a key milestone in the airport’s transformation.
Designed for long-term growth, the expansion is just the start of the story.
The connectivity Newcastle Airport offers will make the Hunter a more attractive destination for international tourists, and a more convenient option for locals looking to travel the world.

The new terminal isn't just about scale - it’s a completely reimagined experience from the moment you step off the plane and make your way to Arrivals.
With three baggage carousels, significantly more space, and natural light flooding in from every angle, one of its most striking features is the Hunter Light.
A sculptural roof installation inspired by the sweeping dunes of Stockton Bight, casting soft, ambient light throughout the terminal.

The Arrivals area introduces you to Crosswinds Coffee Co., a locally inspired cafe pouring Sprocket coffee and serving up everything from pressed toasties to pastries, and all your brekkie favourites. Whilst you’re there, make your way to the outdoor area and soak up all the buzz of the airport atmosphere.
Designed with tones that reflect Newcastle’s iconic coastal rock formations, the cafe is a warm and welcoming spot to grab a bite or a caffeine hit before takeoff, or after touchdown.

The opening of Arrivals is a huge step forward, and there’s even more to get excited about.
Direct flights to Perth take off from September 8, followed by direct flights to Bali from October 21, both of which are set to depart three times a week.
With 11 destinations and over 250 flights now departing weekly, Newcastle Airport is clearly stepping into a bold new chapter.
