Since its arrival in Newcastle in 2021, JTaranaki Jewellery, brought to you by Jacob and Charley, has been carving out its distinctive niche in the world of bespoke jewellery.
The boutique and studio situated on the bustling corner of Bolton and King streets has witnessed a year of transformation and creativity with the launch of its highly anticipated Luminae Collection – a line of engagement rings that represents a harmonious blend of love, light, and artistry.
The Luminae Collection, officially launched in June, is the product of over a year of planning and design. Charley joined the business full-time last year, allowing the duo to fully immerse themselves in their creative endeavours – a step that was instrumental to achieve their long-held dream.
“Jake’s signature style has really emerged in his custom work. His distinctive style naturally developed, and clients kept wanting more of [it], so the timing for this was perfect,” Charley said.
Each piece in the Luminae Collection is a testament to the couple’s dedication to craftsmanship and detail.
“To us, it means love and light. Luminae is derived from the Latin word lumen, meaning light.”
This concept of illumination is a recurring theme throughout the collection, embodied in designs that balance modern sophistication and design with timeless elegance.
The collection features a variety of meticulously crafted pieces, each designed to make the owner feel confident and stylish. The designs have been thoughtfully constructed to be accessible without compromising on quality with each piece made to order with customizable options in terms of stone size and alloy.
A standout piece in the collection is NOCTARA – which holds a special place in both Charley and Jake’s hearts.
“It’s definitely a personal favourite for both of us. It’s striking and untraditional, with a clever open gallery design that allows maximum light to illuminate each stone, enhancing its brilliance and shine.”

“Custom jewellery is still at the core of what we do, however, we are looking to move into the online market more and more, especially within the wedding space. We’d really like our custom work to reflect this too, and we believe that over time, as we showcase what we can do in this space, it will.”
