A toast to Newcastle’s newest (and smallest) wine bar
Nestled inside Vera Wine shop on Beaumont Street, Vera Wine Bar has officially launched offering an inviting extension to an already cherished Newcastle destination.

Brought to you by Josh Distefano, the 12-seater wine bar is a natural evolution of their vision to share unique and hard-to-find wines with the community.

“The model for the shop has been envisaged for a long time. So much so that the Vera Wine Bar handle was created on the same day as when Vera Wine Shop opened.” Josh said.

The plans for the wine bar date back to 2020, when the very first documents for Vera Wine Shop were drafted in Melbourne. Fast forward to Monday, November 11 2024, and the vision has finally came to life – much to the delight of their loyal fan base.

Transforming the shop to accommodate the bar came with subtle yet thoughtful changes. The lush greenery that once dominated the shopfront is slightly more subdued and the front space has taken on a cosy bistro vibe.
“We found beautiful French bistro tables that line the shop as you enter and we’ve had a few standing bars built in.”

The result is a space that radiates charm and warmth, perfect for unwinding with a glass of wine. Offering a seamless experience, guests can explore an extensive by-the-glass menu or select a bottle directly from the shop’s shelves.
Pair your drop with delectable deli snacks, think smoked olives (from An Apple A Day), wakame macadamias, and Tiger Buck beef jerky – just to name a few.

“We think it’s the ultimate date night spot for a pre-dinner drink.”
Operating during the same hours as the shop, Vera Wine Bar is open from 10am-8pm on weekdays, extending to 9pm on Friday and Saturday, and closing at 7pm on Sundays. With just 12 seats available, the bar offers an intimate and exclusive experience that’s as personal as it is inviting.

Whether you’re a seasoned wine enthusiast or seeking a cosy spot to unwind, Vera Wine Bar invites you in for a tipple or two.
