New Lambton’s family friendly coffee spot
Tucked away from the main hustle and bustle of New Lambton sits Rosie & Shell – a unique coffee spot that goes beyond just coffee.
Brought to you by local couple, Brie and Gemma, Rosie & Shell isn’t just a place to grab a coffee; it’s a family venture and a labour of love built right behind Brie’s Blanc Hair Studio, which has called New Lambton home for over 13 years.
Rosie & Shell’s journey began as an idea well over four years ago during quiet moments at the salon.
“We all just said, how good would it be to have a coffee van out in this back space? Life got in the way and I got sick with Lyme Disease so everything was put on hold. But, about 12 months ago we really started pushing again and we officially opened Wednesday, 9 October,” Brie said.
The concept evolved as Brie and Gemma’s family grew, having conversations about how hard it is to find a place where kids can play freely while you enjoy a coffee.
The Rosie & Shell space offers a cute little coffee caravan serving up coffee from Supreme Coffee Roasters, sweet treats thanks to Bob & Pete’s, and an extensive gluten-free and vegan offering.
“We only offer takeaway so the menu is nice and simple, but we’re making sure everyone can find something they like.”
Additionally, it has its very own colourful kids cubby filled with plenty for them to explore and play with. Could this be Newcastle’s newest parents with little ones in tow hangout?
The offerings don’t stop there, towards the back Brie and Gemma, with the help of their friends and family have transformed the old shed into a retail boutique home to a curated selection of Australian brands and unique items you would be hard-pressed to find elsewhere in Newcastle.
“We just have a love for quality lifestyle brands. A lot of the brands we have stocked in here we have either met personally or know their story.”
The name, Rosie & Shell, carries a piece of the family’s story as well,
“Rosie and Shell are our daughters’ middle names. We wanted to keep that family connection, which is the same thing we did with the salon. Blanc is French for white, which is my maiden name. We like to keep things meaningful and family-oriented.”
More than a family endeavour, Rosie & Shell is a reflection of New Lambton’s incredible community spirit. Rosie & Shell has transformed an otherwise quiet corner into a cosy coffee and lifestyle-driven hub.
With a welcoming space for kids to play and plenty of space for adults to enjoy a relaxed coffee or pick up a last-minute gift, Rosie & Shell is no doubt going to be a beloved spot in New Lambton.
