Beaumont Street’s authentic Vietnamese eatery
Hamilton’s bustling Beaumont Street has recently welcomed a new addition to its dining scene with the arrival of The Pho Hamilton – a Vietnamese restaurant nestled on the ground floor on the corner of Cleary Street.

Before even stepping inside, it’s impossible to miss the massive mural facing Cleary Street, a colourful depiction of Ho Chi Minh City life intertwined with a clever personal touch – hidden within the artwork are the faces of The Pho Hamilton’s team.

This eye-catching feature sets the tone for what’s to come once you head inside – blending the spirit of Vietnam with a warm and community-focused feel.
Inside, the atmosphere is kept simple and welcoming. The space is modest but thoughtful, allowing the food to be the real star of the show. A softly illuminated wall features The Pho Hamilton’s signage, while traditional Vietnamese decorations – including nón lá (Vietnamese conical hats) – add subtle cultural touches.

Overall, it’s a setting that feels genuine and unpretentious, inviting diners to settle in and enjoy authentic Vietnamese flavours.

Vietnamese cuisine is beloved for its balance of rich yet refreshing flavours, with an emphasis on fresh herbs, broths, and meats. At its heart is pho (pronounced fuh) – a soulful noodle soup that varies from region to region in Vietnam but is always centred around a deeply-flavoured broth.

We sample two of the dishes that highlight the kitchen’s attention to tradition and flavour – the rare beef and brisket pho (pho tái nam) and the dumpling noodles (mì hoành thánh) – both as exceptional as you’d hope.

The menu extends well beyond pho, offering a wide range of traditional dishes such as com tam (broken rice with grilled meats), mì xào (stir-fried noodles), and bún thit nuong (grilled pork with vermicelli noodles) just to name a few.

Drinks at The Pho Hamilton also nod to the classics, with options like traditional Vietnamese iced coffee – strong, sweet, and energising – and refreshing sodas infused with lemon, passionfruit, or strawberry.

Whether you’re after a quick pho fix, a leisurely exploration of authentic Vietnamese flavours, or just somewhere new to discover on Beaumont Street, The Pho Hamilton is a must visit.
