The full Texan ranch experience lands in Buttai
The old Buttai Barn has been given a new lease on life thanks to husband-and-wife team, Mick Tyrrell and Sara Berg, the duo behind Full Throttle BBQ and Full Throttle Custom Garage.
Their latest venture, Full Throttle Ranch, officially opened on Friday, July 4 – a fitting date for a venue that’s all about celebrating American Southern culture, Texas BBQ, and live music.
The journey to bring the concept has been a long one, five years to be specific.
“The opportunity was presented to us by a broker and we decided to buy it. We had a dream and the vision to convert the barn into something truly authentic after our trips to the US – our love of slow and low cooked BBQ and Southern-style food and great music,” Mick said.
The result is a vibrant, family-friendly venue that blends food, drinks, music, and atmosphere into what Mick and Sara describe as being the full experience of being at a Texan ranch.
Food is, of course, at the heart of the offering. The menu has a strong Texan backbone, infused with a Southern twist. Standouts include the much-loved Texas BBQ Plate and the Lone Ranger, which stacks brisket, pulled pork, coleslaw, and fries into a hearty feast.
Southern Fried Chicken is a crowd favourite, while for something a little different, Mick’s personal pick is the Chicken Fried Catfish.
The drinks list plays just as much of a starring role, with cocktails designed to complement the smoky and rich flavours of the food. Mick’s personal favourite? The Tennessee Firefly.
“This cocktail reminds us of the feeling you get when the sun is setting on a hot summer’s day in Tennessee.”
The venue also offers a unique whiskey tasting experience that has already started turning heads.
“It’s by booking only but is available at any time we’re open. It’s a two-hour class that allows people to taste and learn about rare whiskeys that aren’t available to buy as they are from my personal collection.”
Music is another cornerstone of Full Throttle Ranch, with an entertainment lineup that leans heavily into the roots of country, Southern rock, and Americana.
With its mix of authentic food, bold drinks, rare whiskey tastings, and a music lineup that pays homage to the icons whilst still supporting the next generation, Full Throttle Ranch is shaping up to be a one-of-a-kind venue for the Hunter.
