Long Jetty’s light and bright fashion boutique
Driving along the main road in Long Jetty, you’re not short on boutique shopping experiences and café spots to fill you up before you hit the shopping strip once more. From curated wine shops and cosy coffee corners, one spot you’ve got to experience is none other than long-time favourite fashion boutique: Plain Janes.
The brainchild of two fabric-loving sisters and Central Coast locals, April Mills and Amelia Wasiliev, Plain Janes has been gracing the Long Jetty scene since its inception in 2015.
“We were both born and raised on the coast but over the years have also lived both overseas and in other parts of Australia. We both returned to the coast after a period of time living away and realised based on some of our favourite shops from other cities that this kind of store was missing on the coast.”
Coming to life within just four months of business planning, the iconic Long Jetty-based venue officially opened in February of 2015 – which means we’ve been lucky enough to have this beautiful store for over seven years!
“Business has been great! There have been definite ups and downs, especially over the last two years with COVID and lockdowns, but we love our space and our community of amazing customers. Since opening, we also launched online, and we are loving seeing our products being sent off all over the world.”
What is Plain Janes?
“The name is just about our style - simple and comfortable living. We played with so many ideas and this one kind of stuck.”
Simple and comfortable living is exactly what you can expect as you step inside. The interiors boast a coastal colour palette with light and bright fashion and homewares featured throughout. Expect a unique selection of clothing for women, men, and kids, specialising in those everyday pieces.
“Our top-selling clothing brands would be Assembly Label, Levi’s, Nude Lucy, Alias Mae, Ochre Lane, Naked Vice. We also sell a great range of homewares and lifestyle products, these products include Salty Shadows, Mayde Towels, McMullin & Co, and Arms of Eve.”
The business' products have been carefully curated to offer a selection of goods for literally anyone and everyone.
“We want to have something for everyone and love welcoming new visitors to the store.”
This means Plain Janes is the perfect spot to pick up that particular branded piece you’ve been eyeing off, or as equally good if you’re just looking for a little retail therapy.
This year, the duo and their incredible team are working hard on completing a little instore renovation as well as curating a bunch of preloved market days. To stay up to date on all things Plain Janes, follow their journey on Instagram here, browse their offering online here, or head in-store!
