Drifters Wharf

A festival by the sea is coming to Gosford

The Central Coast hasn’t had a whole lot to be excited about over the last few months, however, that’s all set to change with Drifters Wharf launching on December 3rd.

Gosford’s iconic waterfront venue is getting a massive reno and speaking with owners Isaac Adele and Steve Sewell they explained just what a big undertaking it's been, and how they couldn't be more excited to give the old Iguana Joe's venue a new lease on life,

“The idea of taking on the venue popped up in a convo in March and we’ve been dealing with it ever since. When Covid hit most people were put off doing anything, but we found it gave us time to think about what to do, otherwise we’ve always been too busy with Mumbo’s and Shady’s. So Covid for us was a good time to reset.”

“We’re really excited about it, we’ve always wanted to do live music and we offer it at Shady’s and Mumbo’s, but not to the scale we imaged. We’ve partnered with Kingdom Sounds so we’ll be focusing on getting touring bands through as well as big ticketed events.”
“We see the venue as being a festival by the sea.”

Speaking of entertainment, Isaac dropped that they've just announced their first two music acts for the venue in December, Hot Dub Time Machine and Sneaky Sound System!

The entertainment is however just one aspect of the Drifters Wharf experience as Isaac explained,

“The dining area will have a seafood focus, and we’ve partnered with some of the biggest alcohol brands in the world so we’ll be bringing premium wine and spirits to the bar and over 50 beer taps.”

When it comes to the fit-out Isaac brought on Carolina Malz, of CJ Hospitality Interiors, as a business partner to help bring the vision of Drifters Wharf to life. So what can you expect when the doors open?

“Think boathouse vibes, curves, arches, and colour.”

“It’s not just going to be a big blank space, we wanted to really bring some character and atmosphere into the space as we have with Mumbo’s and Shady’s. It’s going to be an experience from the moment you walk in.”

Chatting via the phone, you could easily sense how pumped Isaac is about their latest venture, and with their vision, enthusiasm, and energy we can’t wait to see what they bring come December 3.
