Celebrating agriculture, entertainment, and community at Newcastle Showground
One of the Hunter’s most iconic annual events returned in 2025, with the Coates Newcastle Show taking over Newcastle Showground from Friday, February 27 to Sunday, March 1 2026.
A cornerstone of the region’s calendar for more than 120 years, the Show continues to celebrate the unique place where country tradition meets city life.
At its heart, the Newcastle Show remains deeply connected to its agricultural roots. Across the weekend, visitors can experience livestock and horse competitions, woodchopping, and classic produce displays spanning cooking, baking, honey, and homegrown produce.
Entertainment takes centre stage throughout the three days, with major crowd favourites returning in 2026.
Friday 27th February
Macka’s Pastoral Bucking Bulls Rodeo storms the centre ring on Friday afternoon and evening, delivering raw, high-energy action with some of Australia’s best riders and stock. Live music keeps the atmosphere buzzing, with the Katie Jayne Band bringing bold, high-energy country from 6:30pm - 9pm.
As the sun goes down, the Showgrounds light up with the much-loved Hunter Readymix Fireworks Spectacular taking to the sky on both Friday and Saturday nights.
Saturday 28th February
The music continues on Saturday evening with The Australian Luke Combs Experience on Saturday evening, 7pm - 8:30pm.
The fireworks return on Saturday night – a family-friendly finale that’s become a highlight of the weekend.
What's New for 2026
Newy Con, a pop culture experience celebrating gaming, cosplay, comics and creative industries, alongside the return of the Varley Group Exhibition Centre, which will host education, careers, and community exhibits connecting visitors with local industries and organisations.
With brand new carnival rides, classic showbags, centre ring events, exhibitions and entertainment all included with entry, the Coates Newcastle Show continues to evolve while honouring its traditions, offering something for every generation.
