The eagerly awaited annual fundraising event returns to The Lock Up
COLLECT returns to The Lock-up for its ninth year to celebrate a collection of emerging and established artists.
The exhibition of over 100 artists is a bold snapshot that celebrates the strength and diversity of Newcastle and the Hunter’s dynamic creative landscape.
COLLECT is a major celebration of art and community. Every piece purchased directly contributes to the future of contemporary art at The Lock-Up.
Leading COLLECT this year is early career curator Ella Grace Paterson. Paterson's extensive multi disciplinary experience as a writer, photographer, and producer will be reflected in her curation of vibrant contemporary culture. You can expect this year's COLLECT to be a true reflection of her tenure and immense contribution to the Newcastle arts, and live music communities.
Also returning is COLLECT: Focus, a dedication platform to spotlight two local early career artists. Curated by early career curator Elloise Ansell, COLLECT: Focus will embrace performance, sound, and multidisciplinary practice. As an emerging artist herself, her curation centres curiosity, and contemporary forms of expression.
As one of the region's biggest art events of the year, The Lock-Up will offer two viewing sessions on opening night. Bookings are strongly recommended to avoid missing out.
The free exhibition will open on Friday, May 15 then continue until Sunday, July 5.
