The Stitch at Bar Mellow | 30 Jun

The Soft Library by Cat Rabbit | 27 May - 20 Jul
The Soft Library is an immersive felt installation by Melbourne-based textile artist & author Cat Rabbit. Newcastle Libraries is turned into a fantastical library run by bears, or ‘libearians’. Literary characters and authors are brought to life as bears along with shelves of felt books and a desk of library paraphernalia – all handmade by the artist in felt and fabric. This whimsical exhibition highlights the positivity of imagination and play for all ages.

Eden | 1 - 16 July
Eden deals with repressed memory, childhood trauma, sexuality, drug use, forgiveness and healing, and promises to resonate with audiences well beyond the theatre.
Powerful, funny and compelling, and featuring theatrical styles including naturalism, farce and cinematic projection, this World Premiere of Eden, by Newcastle-based playwright Daniel Scott, should not be missed.

Fleeting by John Morris | 1-10 Jul

An Evening of Dreaming | 7 July
Crystalbrook Kingsley and Façon magazine present An Evening of Dreaming; a celebration of all things indigenous fashion, food and art. Coinciding with NAIDOC Week, the event will celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, in particular creatives. The evening will include a native cocktail on arrival from Romberg's bar followed by a three-course meal at Roundhouse with wines from Meerea Park wines. Indigenous fashion designers, Wa-ring, MAARA Collective and Ngali will be showcased in a live fashion installation, along with an art exhibition by Saretta Designs.

The Things I Could Never Tell Steven | 14-16 July
A one-act revue-style musical for four people, with music & lyrics by Australian Composer/Lyricist, JYE BRYANT. Although we never meet Steven, we learn all about him through the disclosures of four people in his life: his Wife, Mother, Father and Ex. The Things I Could Never Tell Steven reminds us that whenever we choose silence we are inadvertently actioning outcomes and that we are never really free from the consequences of our decisions or indecision.

Living Smart Festival | 23 - 25 Sep
Gardening guru Costa Georgiadis and a new event dedicated to international flavours and cultures are among the highlights of the long-awaited latest instalment of Lake Mac’s Living Smart Festival. The festival weekend will include the popular Friday night Feast for the Senses dinner under the stars, featuring locally and sustainably sourced produce. Manager Arts, Culture and Tourism Jacqui Hemsley said new to this year’s line-up was a free Sunday ‘Living Together Festival’, celebrating multiculturalism in our community. “We’ll be featuring workshops, demonstrations, market stalls, world music, international cooking classes, global gardens and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and language sessions,” she said.
