Calling all theatre lovers, comedy connoisseurs, and music fans – Newcastle Fringe is back and bigger than ever in 2024. 

Australia's largest regional fringe festival returns for its 9th year, taking place across two weekends and 15 venues. The festival will see hundreds of local and international artists feature across a range of performing arts.

This year's lineup is nothing short of mind-blowing, boasting a whopping 82 acts and 451 artists set to ignite the stage with over 220 shows. From side-splitting comedy to immersive dance spectacles, risqué cabaret treats to captivating kids' shows, there's something for everyone.

The festival will also see the return of the always-popular Choir Day, where seven choirs perform on one day, creating a mini choir festival.

Plus, free headline event Fringe@Park After Dark is set to take over Hamilton's Gregson Park. Expect pop-up interactive sideshows from the likes of magicians, face painters, zany clowns, dancers, and musicians, and a headline performance by River of Fire, a mesmerising fire dancing and acrobatics show.

Supported by the City of Newcastle’s Special Business Rate Funding Program and the Hamilton Business Association, the festival continues to thrive, with 62% of attendees hailing from the local community, showcasing Newcastle's unwavering passion for the arts.

The festival's primary hub in Hamilton promises to be a hive of activity, with an array of performances and roving street performers enlivening the streets with creativity.
