The must-do activity for anyone heading out to Dubbo
The ultimate experience in Dubbo is a must-do for anyone visiting the regional town; Taronga Western Plains Zoo will keep the whole family entertained for the whole day.
Located just five minutes out of town on Obley Road, book your tickets online and experience a real zoofari adventure. Explore the 5.3km circuit by car, get on a hire bike, or try something exciting with an electric safari cart!
The mostly flat terrain is easy to navigate and won’t work you too hard. You can zip around all day on a bike from just $17pp. Giving you easy access to each exhibit you can get right up close to the animals without even having to jump off your bike.
Prefer four wheels? You can stay in your own car or get yourself a safari-themed cart for 3 hours from $70.
Home to over 5,000 animals from 350 species, you can spend days on end checking out the hundreds of rare and endangered animals. African lions, Asian elephants, cheetahs, Sumatran tigers, Giraffes, zebras, meerkats, koalas, takhi, and kangaroos are just a few of the animals you’ll be able to spot!
Swing by each exhibit and see what the animals are up too and listen in to the daily keeper activities or sign up for a special tour for a once in a lifetime magical experience.
Plan ahead and pack the kids swimmers (or at least a spare pair of clothes) and let them burn some energy in the recently launched African themed Waterhole featuring hippo and elephant sculptures and an array of automated jets.
Hungry? Head to the Savannah Visitor Plaza where the kids can hang out on the playground and you can sit back at the café overlooking Savannah Lake and Primate Island; home to black-handed spider monkeys and ring-tailed lemurs.
Each ticket allows guests two consecutive days entry into the zoo, giving you plenty of time to make sure you get around to everything happening across the venue.
Make the most of your Taronga Western Plains Zoo experience and book a night at the luxurious Zoofari Lodge, the self-contained Savannah Cabins, or go camping at Billabong Camp.
