NSW's greatest dog race returns

Each year since 1979, except last year of course, The Great Nundle Dog Race has drawn dogs and their owners from throughout the Region and  beyond… and this year it returned.

The one-of-a-kind and much-loved event returned on Sunday 2nd May 2021.

As you read, District graziers are preparing their working dogs for the main race, The Great Nundle Dog Race, which determines the fastest and most disciplined working dog in the region.

There are more than 20 races and events held throughout the day catering to all sizes, breeds and talents including; House Dog Races, Mongrel Invitation  Stakes, Juvenile Canine Mini Stakes, Doggy High Jump, Stumpy’s  Circular Dog Derby, Best Dressed Doggy Fashion Parade, and a  brand new event this year Sponsored and Judged by Tamworth City  Dance Academy “The Great Doggy Dance Off” for the best Doggy with all the “moves”.

It’s not just about the dogs, Tamworth City Dance Academy Show Troupes will be performing for the first time, and there’s plenty of fun for the kids to get involved with like sack and running races.

So just what is The Great Nundle Dog Race all about??

First held in 1979 to settle a debate between two local graziers about who owned the fastest dog, the event has grown into a fundraising event for the Nundle Public School P&C Association.

The event's success is only possible due to the fabulous Nundle and Tamworth community and this year is no different with Nundle Public School P&C Committee member, Teree Burr announcing their first major Platinum Sponsor for the event, Cameron Davidson & Co Tamworth, with Teree explaining,
