Newcastle's first ramen & gyoza restaurant is now delivering to Stockton

A collective cheer was heard from across the harbour last week when Nagisa and Susuru Ramen & Gyoza Restaurant announced across their socials that they would commence delivering their Japanese flavoured goods... on the ferry of course!

It could be classed as a home delivery world first, with little to no food delivery options available to the good residents of Stockton.

So what's brought about this awesome adjustment? We caught up with Taiyo, owner of Nagisa and Susuru restaurants, on a spectacular May afternoon at the Newcastle Ferry wharf just as a delivery order was about to set sail.

So Taiyo, can you tell us what brought about the decision to start delivering to Stockton?
We've been doing delivery for a long time with Susuru, it is a new thing for Nagisa, and with the restrictions coming into place our delivery has taken off even more. We decided to put a call out on social to ask who wanted our food but couldn't get access to it, and there was a big response from the residents in Stockton, so we thought it was worth giving it a go.

It's not your standard delivery, there are no bikes or cars involved in the delivery is that right?
That's right, to do deliveries via one of our motorbikes would have been difficult so we decided to give the idea of using the ferry and then meeting the person who ordered the meal at the ferry wharf. It only takes a couple of minutes to get across to Stockton on the ferry so it made sense, and so far it's worked really well.

Do you plan on continuing the deliveries to Stockton once you can trade normally again?

At this stage we plan to keep this delivery service as an option, we've had such a great response and whilst the orders keep coming we'll keep delivering.

Does it cost extra given the food has to travel on the ferry?

No, we haven't added in any ferry surcharges, so long as the Stockton resident collects the order before the ferry takes off again, we treat it as a normal delivery.

So for anyone living in Stockton and you didn't know about this awesome new service be sure to jump online and get ordering
