The warmer months are fast approaching and what better way to get in the summer mood than purchasing a new swimwear? Well, haven’t we got a treat for you!
Meet MINIMAA, Newcastle’s newest locally designed minimal swimwear brand boasting a curated collection of subtle designs and cuts with fun little twists.
Brought to you by Newcastle local gal, Taylor Dodds, the swimwear brand has only just recently launched following almost 12-months of behind-the-scenes work.
“Living so locally to the beach, I have always been a swimwear addict and it’s my favourite thing to purchase, so it felt fitting that swimwear was what I would release. I really started to design and plan in December 2020, with the brand officially launching in mid-September this year,” Taylor said.
The first MINIMAA collection features five different pieces which are all available in two colours; Marocco and Mineral. The first of the two top designs is Envy, featuring a classic triangle cut front and MINIMAA’s classic triangle hardware at the back. The second design, Jealousy, is all about offering you support; highlighting a flattering V shaped cut with thick adjustable straps and again, the classic triangle hardware at the back.
Onto the bottoms, the Envy bottom is perfect for those wanting something a little cheekier, as it features a minimal cut with a small triangle cut out at the back. The Jealousy bottom offers a touch more coverage and a great if you prefer thicker straps.
The lucky last piece in MINIMAA’s first collection is the Forbidden Love one piece; a strapless suit featuring a high cut cheeky design and large triangle cut-out designed to accentuate your waist.
“All of our pieces are designed by me here in Newcastle. I pull a lot of design inspo from Pinterest and Instagram, but more specifically vintage runway.”
The new brand also boasts eco-friendly and sustainability practices with all of their swimwear made from a luxe Italian fabric that is recycled from nylon as well as being packaged in biodegradable bags.
“Our swing tags, hygiene seals, thank you cards, stickers, and even tissue paper are all made from recycled materials and our mailers are compostable. We are always looking for ways to improve and cut down our environmental impact.”
