For those that have wandered into the Bull Street concept store, Artefact, there’s a good chance you’ve perused the beautiful fine jewellery designs handmade in-house. Using precious metals & stones, Amelia Hancock and her small team produce objects of permanence from RJC certified 9ct solid gold & sterling silver.

Originally known as Made by a. and located on Parry Street, a relocation in 2021 and a rebrand in August 2023 saw a new era commence for the brand and an expansion into leathergoods and piercing.

But perhaps they are most known for their Welded permanent jewellery - the first of its kind in Newcastle, originally launching in 2020.

Over the last 4 years, Artefact have adorned their customers in solid gold and silver fine chains and add ons, including their best selling Rosa beads, salt and pepper diamond Reservoirs and personalised initial charms - offering a service of fully customisable jewellery tailored to the client’s personal style and existing adornments.

Since the brand’s inception in 2018, Amelia has always looked to adorn those of Newcastle and beyond with unique pieces that evoke sentimentality, perfect for those wishing to commemorate loved ones, memories, moments and friendships.

Permanent jewellery was always a natural expansion to Artefact’s offering and complements the brand’s ethos of creating pieces that are enduring - rejecting platings, coatings and “gold fills” and always using sustainable practices and materials.  

Artefact’s Welded service is also available for group events and pop ups. Whether it’s to celebrate a loved one’s birthday, a work celebration, functions, Christmas parties, hens or bridal showers, Artefact offers group bookings of 5 or more persons either in their Cooks Hill space, or on location.
