Wellness Studio X Homewares & Lifestyle Collection
Situated in a little hidden corner of New Lambton is the beautiful space of KAHM Co, a collective of curated lifestyle, homewares, fashion, gifts, and furniture pieces alongside a unique wellness offering.
Brought to you by the mother and daughter duo, Kimberley and Casey, KAHM Co has been offering up a unique shopping experience paired with a range of healing modalities since its inception in December 2020.
The family-run local business comes from humble beginnings with the story based around the pairs’ two worlds colliding. Born and bred Novocastrians, KAHM Co hopes to continue to bring a unique offering not only to New Lambton locals but to the people across all of Newcastle and beyond.
“We’re both from Newcastle and mum actually grew up in New Lambton. It’s been really nice for her to come back to the area because she is still recognised by people that she went to primary school with,” Casey said.
The dream for KAHM Co had been bubbling away in Kimberley’s mind, well before the official opening. As a medium with over 20 years of experience in the Hunter region, Kimberley hoped to create a sanctuary for visitors to discover homewares and lifestyle pieces and a range of healing modalities, embracing wellness, self-care, and mindful living.
“I decided to create a really different wellness hub. I wanted to bring it to people that would be more accepting of coming into an environment that gives them a whole luxury feel and experience. I’ve got some great modalities that will be working with us in the near future including services like massage, kinesiology, reiki, and naturopathy,” Kimberley.
Casey on the other hand has had a diverse background in the world of styling and travel, both across Australia and overseas before deciding to head back to Newcastle to pursue a quieter lifestyle.
“I missed our quality of life, the easy-going lifestyle. After speaking with mum at length, she’d already signed the lease here and she was well into the fit-out. I was helping with little things here and there but when I finally moved back, she asked if I would come on board and if we would do this together,” Casey shared.
Originally opening KAHM Co’s first space (that’s right, there are two!), in December 2020, the cosy boutique has been fitted out with the ladies’ signature luxe Mediterranean look. From their DIY white render and recycled railway sleeper doors, the space boasts nothing but calm, quiet, and focussed energy.
Now known as their lifestyle store and wellness hub, the front section features a unique jewellery offering, self-care pieces, gifts, baby, and dog products. Behind the two separate recycled railway sleeper doors is where the wellness practices take place.
Having built such a strong customer base over such a short period of time, the duo quickly found they were outgrowing the original boutique and when the opportunity came up to expand into a new space just across the courtyard, it was one not to be missed.
“It’s such a beautiful environment here at New Lambton. It’s such a great thoroughfare so it was such a no-brainer and an easy expansion into the new space across the courtyard,” Kimberley said.
“We love New Lambton; we love the community here and we’ve been so welcomed so we wanted to invest back into it. We love what the area offers but it’s nice to have something fresh, so we loved the idea of expanding and giving something else to the area as well,” Casey said.
KAHM Co’s second space expands into their curated fashion, homewares, and furniture offering. With a focus on quality, unique, one-of-a-kind, and exclusive pieces, a lot of the brands found across both stores are hard if not impossible to find across any other boutiques in the area.
“We are very mindful of the products and brands that we put into the store, so our whole thing is that we want to have a carefully curated selection of brands and products that you can’t find anywhere close by. Whether it’s a one-of-a-kind piece, a fashion label, or jewellery, you won’t find it elsewhere.
“Brands include RAEF, Girl & The Sun, Lokoa, Le Salty, Soleil Soleil, Amelius, Free People, Ochre Lane, Monsieur Blonde, ToniMay, and incoming luxury label Little Joe Woman, in which Designer Gail Elliot has offered an exclusive custom made service for KAHM Co clients where she can modify her incredible pieces and have delivered to the store in days.”
The name KAHM Co offers an important double meaning for the ladies and what their hopes are for the business.
“The name is made up of my initials, K-A-H, and then I’ve put M for modalities because I was always intending for it to be a wellness hub and to create an opportunity for Newcastle to get quality readers. It spells KAHM, and it’s really what our essence is. We want people to feel calm so it has a double meaning,” Kimberley said.
With the close-knit mother and daughter duo at the helm of the business, you can stop by either of the KAHM Co spaces or explore their online offering knowing there is something for all ages.
“We’re very lucky that we’re friends and we both have similar styles and similar tastes. However, in saying that, I like different things and she’ll like different things which is the beauty of the store; we want to make it multi-generational.”
Over the following months, the KAHM Co wellness space will slowly be working on promoting their range of wellness services with specialised practitioners available to the local community, as well as a collection of events making the most of the warmer months in their sunny New Lambton courtyard.
“Going into the warmers months, we hope to utilise that beautiful courtyard outside with our neighbouring businesses to create long lunches, reading sessions, meditations, and more,” Casey said.
“Kimberley has spent the last several weeks in Bali rebalancing her energies before she recommences reading for clients. Participating in sessions at the Pyramids of Chi and private work with experienced Masters like Maitreya, expanding on her advanced meditation techniques as well as meeting with exclusive brand suppliers there,” Casey said.
