X-Golf brings a $1.5 million golf and entertainment hub to the Hunter

Love the idea of golf, but not the thought of spending four hours chasing balls around a course? Newcastle’s newest sports-entertainment venue might be your kind of game.

Opening in Tighes Hill, X-Golf is bringing a $1.5 million golf and entertainment hub to the Hunter, combining ultra-realistic simulators, food and drinks, social competitions, and coaching all under one roof.

Golf, but not as you know it

The new venue spans more than 600sqm and features six advanced golf simulators capable of transporting players to over 50 world-famous courses, including St Andrews Links, Pebble Beach Golf Links, and Bay Hill Club & Lodge.

Using high-speed cameras, lasers and sensors, the simulator technology tracks every shot in real time, creating an experience that feels impressively close to the real thing – minus the lost balls, weather delays, and long walks between holes.

For the team behind X-Golf, Newcastle felt like the perfect fit.

Speaking from the group’s successful Mackay venue, operator Roy Boase says both cities share a similar culture built around hard work, lifestyle, and sport.

“Mackay and Newcastle certainly share a similar social makeup,” Roy says.

“We find ourselves anchored in communities that value lifestyle, whether that means spending time along the coast, playing sport, or hanging out with family, so we know it’s important to make their downtime count.”

What to expect

Designed for everyone from experienced golfers to complete beginners, X-Golf is all about making the game more accessible for people juggling busy schedules.

Instead of committing to a full afternoon on the course, players can squeeze in a quick session after work, meet up with mates, or even bring the kids along for a casual hit.

“We see people drop in after work, meet mates, and even bring the kids in,” Roy says. “It works because people are busy – they still want to enjoy time off while staying connected.”

Alongside the simulators, the venue will also feature a full bar and kitchen, share plates, social competitions, and PGA-accredited coaching, creating a space that feels just as suited to casual catch-ups as it does serious gameplay.

The venue is also set to employ nine Newcastle locals and plans to work closely with surrounding schools, community groups, women’s programs, and aspiring junior golfers.

Game on

With sport-meets-social venues continuing to grow in popularity, X-Golf Newcastle is shaping up to be one of the city’s newest go-to spots for competitive fun without the time commitment of a traditional round.

X-Golf officially opens on 22 May at Unit 350 Industrial Drive, Tighes Hill.
