Discover relaxed clay workshops in Lake Macquarie

There’s something therapeutic about getting your hands dirty and creating something surrounded by like-minded individuals. Whether you’re an expert or a complete amateur, there’s a calming nature that comes with making something.

Alongside the rise in paint and sip workshops over the past few years, clay workshops have been another addition to the creative scene. One Lake Macquarie business, The Greenhouse Art Club, is doing so with fun, inclusive, and relaxing vibes at its core.

The brains behind the business, Taliha Turner, brings years of experience working as a High School Art Teacher as well as a creative nature and exuberant personality to her unique small-scale workshops.

The Greenhouse Art Club Director - Taliha Turner

Launched late last year, The Greenhouse Art Club has built a reputation for its approachable workshops for all ages.

The Greenhouse Art Club’s workshops are not about creating the perfect piece, instead, it’s about letting your hair down, celebrating with friends and family, and honing in on that inner creative genius.

The Greenhouse Art Club is kicking off its next round of workshops and classes soon, with enrolments now open.

Clay Making Workshops

Two introductory workshops give you and your nearest and dearest the chance to enjoy a drink and a laugh whilst getting your hands dirty. Each two-and-a-half-hour class will be guided by Taliha where you’ll learn the basics of clay making including pinch pot, coil, and slab techniques.

Take Me Home Air Dry Clay

This particular workshop utilises air-drying clay which means you can take your unique clay creations home straight away (note: they do require a few days of air drying before they’re ready to use).

Taliha’s suggestions include – but aren’t limited to – incense holders, ring displays, candle holders, book ends, and decorative plates.

Be Mine Forever Glaze Ware

This option means that your creations will be functional and waterproof, but they might just take a few more weeks until they’re ready for use (4-6 weeks).  Taliha’s suggestions include a dinner set, planters, and vases – the options are endless!

Mums N Bubs

How often are the mums forgotten about? There are countless activities for your little ones to engage in, but often mums are left high and dry without any creative (and social) outlet. Introducing this delightfully crafted workshop made just for mums n bubs.

Across the term, you’ll learn how to make beautiful clay pieces with Taliha providing complimentary tea, coffee, and biscuits to keep you energised and inspired throughout the workshop.

“It’s the perfect opportunity to bond with your bub, meet other mums in the community, and take home a handmade shop-worthy creation.”

The one-hour workshop runs from 10am every Monday morning. However, you’re welcome to come and go within this time frame as you please so as to suit you and your baby’s needs.

As Taliha is a mum herself, she knows the strains surrounding committing to a ten-week course with such a young one at home. So, she’s tailored a handful of memberships making it all that much easier for you to sign up. Read more about them here.

After School Clay Club
