Experience the best of Newcastle – by bike!
“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, how great is Newy!”
That’s Ben Ogden, the founder of Newy Rides and one of Newcastle’s top new tour guides promising to showcase the best of the city – and doing it all on just two wheels!
Newy Rides offers an all-inclusive experience that champions some of our best local producers, breweries, distilleries, artists, cafes, restaurants, and bars – all of which are sampled along the way!
“My goal is for Newy Rides to be the perfect vehicle to dig a little deeper and discover the unique flavours and secret sights of Newcastle,” Ben said.
With a passion for cycling and his new city, alongside his background in travel and event management, Newy Rides is the culmination of a long-held dream for Ben. The approach from the start has been to avoid becoming another cookie-cutter tour company but instead providing an authentic local experience for not only out of town visitors but even the locals.
“Guests feel like they are out riding with friends, like they are being let in on places only the locals really know about.”
While on tour, visitors can ride a hand-painted bike that reflects one of the many icons of Newcastle; from Adamstown Gates to the Stockton Ferry, Pasha Bulker to Silverchair’s Frogstomp album, and more!
As we all know, our city is home to a prolific street art scene, coffee culture, burgeoning small bars, and restaurants; all of which are totally worth seeking out. Newy Rides is offering a unique, personalised, and fun way to experience it all. It also rather helps that Newcastle just so happens to be a very bike-friendly place to ride around.
Ben has recently kicked off his newest Newy Rides tour, the ‘Ride Along Series’. A series of bespoke events that allow guests behind-the-scenes, personal access to some of Newcastle’s most respected and creative identities. A true ‘Meet-the-Maker experience – again, all by bike.
Chefs, artists, musicians, producers, and entrepreneurs will form a part of these itineraries and even come along for the ride. Think progressive lunches, workshops, and demonstrations, all unique and special to that tour and on that day.
