Platinum by EMF

Is now bringing their Fitness Centre to Westfield Kotara

What started out as a bootcamp on Broadbeach is today one of Australia's most respected fitness clubs. Owners Leigh Wetton & Scott Freeman had an awesome vision of what they wanted EMF to be, and it’s fair to say they’ve pretty much smashed all their goals and then some.

The fitness duo now have 10 EMF's located on the Gold Coast, a Platinum by EMF at Westfield Kotara, which launched in July 2020, and Newcastle has just scored its second EMF gym opening in December 2020.

Not familiar with EMF?

The best way to describe the fitness club is that they pretty much have every type of fitness concept covered with Platinum by EMF gym manager Cameron Offereins explaining,

‘We’re not just an F45 or Crossfit gym, we offer everything. We do have those classes available but we also offer cycle classes, yoga and all different forms of pilates. There is also a variety of high-intensity classes as well as high altitude training.'

"We also introduced Newcastle to Prama, which is a super interactive circuit class, it’s a kind of digital playground. There are sensors on the floor and walls that you need to run at and chase to hit. The lights and music change depending on whether you’re exercising or resting, and the whole idea is that the circuit works with you. All of your efforts are tracked, such as your times, reps and heart rate and they’re projected up on the wall which really pushes you along."

There was, however, one aspect of Platinum by EMF that was missing - a Fitness Centre, and now that has been rectified as Cam explains,

"Under the EMF brand we have Platinum EMF, the Fitness Centres and Performance Centres, and now up on the Rooftop here at Westfield Kotara we are opening a Fitness Centre, which is a really exciting addition to the EMF offering here in Newcastle."

Cam added, "it’s going to be really well equipped and will include a huge functional and cardio space along with a dedicated free weights area."

The Fitness Centre will offer PT services and when it comes to the equipment Cam explains that they prefer to have two or three different brands available to allow for variety, with the brands including Life Fitness, Technogym and Gym80.

In what will be EMF’s 12th club we were interested to here why Newcastle was the chosen city?

‘The plan is to slowly move into Sydney, but Scott and Leigh saw Newcastle as having a similar vibe to the Gold Coast, and they really believe it’s an up and coming city that is flourishing and only going to get busier.’

One question remains, is it a gym that you could see yourself training at? which Cam helped answer,

"Scott and Leigh have always just wanted to have the best offering for their clients, and be able to cater to everyone from those who have just walked off the street and haven’t exercised before to elite athletes, and that's what you see when you come to the gym now."

Best way to work it out is to give it a try and experience EMF for yourself.
